Never read the book or seen the Swedish version but just got done watching Fincher's take on it and it is a very long movie... The middle section of the movie was very good but then it just kinda drags and drags for a very long time towards the end without giving much closure...
If you are a fan of Fincher's other work, 'Seven' and 'Zodiac' give this one a look, it has that same feel as those other two movies Oh and plenty of nudity, me Like

Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails also teamed up with his cohort Atticus Ross to score this Fincher film. The two won an Oscar last year for their score of Fincher's "The Social Network." They've already been nominated for a Golden Globe for the score for TGWTDT.

You can download six tracks from the score for free from here: http://www.nullco.com/GDT/usd.php

Here's an awesome Zeppelin cover they made with Karen O from Yeah Yeah Yeahs:

You can preview the score in the official trailer:

They also did a cover of "Is Your Love Strong Enough":

i thought it dragged hard in the beginning. the middle was great. The end was weird in that it felt like it had already ended, but i was actually fine with it and didn't mind the continuation. I was still interested

I'm not sure how you can enjoy the movie if you've read the book. I saw it and was thoroughly underwhelmed. Knowing the level of depth you get in the book and how glossed over everything is in the movie left me wondering how people who hadn't read it could even understand everything that was going on.

That is generally the case with any adapted screenplay... there just isn't enough time to fit in all of the details from the book. It is a sad fact.

Nice - Karen O and friends (or the other way around?) do a very respectable version of 'The Immigrant Song'.... Covering Led Zeppelin is not an easy thing, much less bringing something new to the table while doing so.

Thanks to a friend, I have already read 'The girl With the Dragon Tattoo' and the two following books in the series; and as always, when you have read the book first, one can only hope the movie lives up. The trailers look promising. I really loved the books, so...

    Thanks for the heads up

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross wrote the cover, Karen O Just provided the lyrics. She even did it out of state. Still a great job all around though. Here is an awesome article explaining it all.

Amazing we get our news from the Scottish Sun, Svernaut (nice find). I find it hard to believe that Karen O, lead singer of The Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs' was 'totally in the dark" about Led Zeppelin, but then again, maybe not. They are probably ancient musical history to her.

It was not that long ago that I bought my first Beach Boys album based on never ending praise by critics for Pet Sounds. I had just dismissed it/them as corny old timey pop crap. Pet Sounds is one of my all time favorites now, but I'm rambling...

More Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross stuff. They are becoming some of my favorite movie score song writers. The Social Network and GWDT soundtracks are both amazing and set the mood of the entire movie.

So what's better this or the foreign original? Or is this another case of Let the Right One In / Let Me In?

I saw this last week and thought it was fantastic. But I did not read the book, and love a good mystery. I thought Daniel Craig, in Particular, was great.

    Post of the year.

But yeah, this movie was awesome. Wood plow Lisabeth. Wood wife her when she looks like how she did in The Social Network.

Just saw it. It wasn't masterpiece-level Fincher (Zodiac, Social Network Seven), but it was quite enjoyable, and I'd like to watch it again.

    This. So much, this.

Mara's part in The Social Network is the exact opposite of this character, and she has maybe five minutes' screen time, but she was essential to that movie as well, the foundational motivation for the main character. She was perfect in it, and I don't think it would have worked as well with a different actress.

Per Wikipedia's scholarly crowd-sourcing (didn't realize she was of the NY Giants' Maras, Kate Mara's sister):
[rquoter]...[Mara] also had each of her ears pierced four times, and had her brow and right nipple pierced for the role. Her nose and lip piercings were fake. She kept the nipple piercing so that it would not need to be re-pierced for a sequel....[/rquoter]
That, my friends, is dedication to one's craft.
