Pooty on Rudy.

The Rockets were so not in sycn. tonight that he should have sent a message by allowing Tito and Boki to see at least 3-5mins each. Rudy is beyond belief. I am stuck in the middle wondering if this guy is really a great coach or a bad coach. I guess there is a fine line between good and bad.

I agree. It would be a different story if we had guys who were playing good, but we have about six players that just look plain BAD out there.

Watching the Wizards game tonight, they had nobody who was producing at the point guard spot. Collins knowing the Wizards had nothing to lose decided to put Juan Dixon in the game in the first quarter, eventhough he's only been averaging 5 minutes a game this season! And what do you know! He goes for 15 points, 5 rebs, 4 assists, and 6 steals in only 24 minutes!

Truth is, you just never know about rookies until they get some PT. Why doesn't Rudy at least give him a shot? Nachbar couldn't possibly play any worse than some of the guys out there.

Yeah, I think that too much nursing can't be a good thing. If the guy can play, then let him play. RT needs to pop his titty out of Boki's mouth and allow him to grow up.

    Boki should play, period.

You don't develop a rookie by sitting him.

Boki played professional basketball for years in Europe. He can play.

So play him. He's part of the future.

    Sit Rice or Kenny.

I hate to enlighten bbs'ers on this, but the only Boki plays this yr is if Rice,Morris,Hawkins, thomas, taylor, and Cat are out with injuries. Just like at the beginning of the season when Rice,Thomas, and Taylor were out, Rudy started the 3guard lineup. So unless all those guys are out, he won't see the floor this yr.

I would not mind seeing Boki getting minutes.

In fact, I would much rather see Boki play sometimes than Kenny. Since Rice seems to be gathering his rhythm lately, he deserves the minutes he is getting at the moment. So far, I haven't seen why Boki shouldn't play right now. I must have missed something; what happened that makes him a "waste of a pick?"

Rudy does need a playoff to keep his job.

How does this keep us from making the playoffs? He's just a bench player. Damn, he's not even second string. Just give him a few minutes a game, and if he sucks then you can bash me all you want.

Someone whom I would be afraid to hand minutes to would be Tito Maddox. This guy seems to be another Moochie, just that he tends to dribble right into a press and gets trapped on the sideline with nowhere to go.

Nope, I never said Yao was a waste of a pick or didn't deserve playing time. I said he was a project that had to earn the right for ADDITIONAL playing time.

Nachbar needs to earn the right to even check in during garbage time.

Some of thse posts are the absolute limit....I have long had a problem with the philosophy that, in today's game of free agency and early draft entry draftees,we still need to prioritize rookies 'earning' their minutes over them learning the game...especially on a team building for the future...I feel that Rudy has a fairly consistent hyper-conservatism when it comes to playing rookies, unless he has no other real option, and I have felt that this 'earn it' advocacy is a combination of fans supporting the organization without question, fans supporting existing players who are threatened by younger players, and fans who prioritize winning now, damn the long term cost..

But when it gets to the point where a guy has played just 24 minutes in the entire season, and was neither noticably good or noticably poor, and people are still saying that he hasn't 'earned' his minutes...!??!?!??!?!? How the hell do we know what he has or has not earned? Are you telling me that going 2 of 5 on the season, including 1 of 2 from beyond the arc somehow is proof positive that you are not ready? If so, I would suggest that we don't have many guys on the team who have 'earned' minutes, and that you are one hell of an astute talent evaluator, and should quit whatever else you are doing right now and go into scouting...Teams would pay big money for guys who can see a guy take 5 shots and make absolute evaluations of them.
