    Melo? Durant?

You guys are insane. This kid just had a hot shooting night and a great majority of those shots were unguarded. I didnt see anything that suggests he can create shots for himself though I do see a promising career as a spot up shooter a la Jimmy Jackson.

Yeah, we're insane. Because anyone can hit 15pts in a quarter of his 1st NBA game (ending w/20pts).:rolleyes:

He showed an NBA skill, the ability to consistently make shots from mid-range & be instant offense. Watch some college vids on this kid, its no accident.

Whats wrong with having another Jimmy Jackson? He was pretty effective as a role player. Suggesting that Marcus Morris is anything like Melo or Durant is much more ridiculous than a comparison to Jimmy Jackson.

I think homers have a tendency to see EVERYTHING through rose color glasses. I heard the same BS about Donte Greene a couple years back when he put up 40 in a preseason game and was traded within a couple months only to rot on a talentless Kings bench.

Greene is soft and that was summer league. Morris was matching up against a physical PF in Blair & a very experienced (European) player in Splitter. Look I'm not saying he's a lock for superstardom, but he's got potential to be very good offensively.

Were DeJuan and Splitter floating out to the perimeter to guard him? No.

Marcus Morris would have a harder time against SFs, which is the position he will play (sparingly) during the season.

If they don't guard you whatta you have to do? That's right, make open shots!

Smaller guys he can take to the mid-post. Morris is going to be a tough matchup. He's going to need time, because this is the NBA but the tools are there.

No. It's not. But his forte is scoring if you follow him closely and not being a spot up shooter. Worst projected scenario was Al Harrington.

Rolling your eyes dont make your observations more credible.

I could just as easily say "Marcus Morris = Durant/Melo???"

I actually liked Jimmy Jackson but there was a reason why he became the JOURNEYMAN he was back in the days.

Who said anything about Durant and Melo? There's a long way between Jimmy Jackson & Melo. Morris has tools. Run the video, it doesn't lie.

Fair enough. I could not follow him in his Dallas days. I am not that old.
But Mook is listed at 6'8.5 235 SF and PF
    Jimmy 6'6
    Different position.

A spot up SF is not that valuable opposed to a spot up SG

Morris is not playing PF, you can count on that. Like I said, he is playing SF and whatever height advantage he owns will benefit his catch and shoot game. I dont think he has the ball handling tools to take SFs off the dribble and I dont think he has a polished post game to take bigger defenders to the rack. He is a role player and his role should be similar to Jimmy Jacksons.

You could have just as easily said "like Al Harrington or a slightly taller Jimmy Jackson".

Instead, Durant and Melos names were dropped... for whatever analogy. That is clear hyperbole and extreme optimism.

OK. According to you but respect what Coach McHale has in mind.
I think he has the mindset to take over the game, be aggressive.
A spot up shooter is not being asked to be neither attack the hole aggressively nor taking over the scoring when there is a drought.

He is from Philly man, you can't just limit him like that. He has a swag.

You followed Melo?! Melo is the best scorer but there was a reason why is only a second tier superstar. He doesn't want to play D.
Durant did not came out of my mouth.

I talked about Danny Granger, different version of David West.
