I'm flying in to visit my family in Houston for a week at the end of January. We're flying into Hobby. I don't necessarily need a car, as I should be able to chauffeured by my family while I'm in town, but I would like to be self-reliant. Not only that, but it's always a cool feeling to drive through myself through the towns that were my old stomping grounds (I moved before I had my driver's license). Anyone know what places are the cheapest to rent from in the Houston area? I don't need anything fancy. Economy works just fine, even. It's just my wife and I and whatever luggage we travel with. Thanks in advance.
Don't rent at the airport, there's a ton of taxes and fees Have them pick you up and rent one somewhere near their house
Thanks. In that case, I will be staying on the North side of town. Specifically, Humble and the Magnolia/The Woodlands area. Also, I am 24. I don't know if there is an increase in rates for people under 25. I'm sure there is.
priceline is always worth a look: http://biddingfortravel.yuku.com/forums/170/Texas-Louisiana-Arkansas-Oklahoma#.TvN_qtQV2rZ (not much houston activity). When you see which companies are winning it's often worth it to go direct to that company -- similar price but better cancellation or premiums. Works for me in LA -- not so sure about Houston.
Try this Enterprise location, I always have fantastic rates with them. I went on their site and put these dates in: 12/23-12/26 and outcame $16.99 per day for an economy car. I think you can even do better if you rent in January. Enterprise lets you book your rental and holds the vehicle for you without paying anything upfront. None will make you pay upfront. Except maybe priceline It's something with the rental car industry I've never tried but I imagine you could have multiple reservations with no penalty
