Forreal. I can understand the T-Will love (his super-athletic player that was in dog house all last year and no getting his big shot), but the Lin love is confusing. He is barely going to play. Who cares?!?!

Granted, one pre-season game doesnt mean a whole lot, but in last nights game, Lin came in and was a difference maker. He was working both ends of the floor. In less than 6 minutes he went 3/3 from the field with an assist. He was disrupting the opponents offense and clearly was giving his all. He was very active. I dont know how anyone watching last nights game in the closing minutes could have not noticed him.

Sure, if he makes the team at all, he will be towards the end of the bench. But in my thinking, its guys like this I want on my bench. Whose to say he couldnt crack the rotation given time? He certainly looked better than Flynn or Dragic.

    Sorry dude, that's 17 instead of 15.
You need to have 15 under contract, even if you assign em to Dleague.

With addition of Dalembert, the Rockets will release Greg Smith. At 20-yrs-old, 6-10 and as strong as a fork lift, he has a future in NBA.

So it's down to Flynn and Lin now. I bet Morey is on Lin's side and McHale's been on Flynn's side. Will they keep the better player or keep the player with the guaranteed contract and pay more $$?

It makes no sense to cut Flynn in order to save money. There's still time to trade him (or Dragic) for draft picks and keep Lin. Otherwise Lin will most likely get the axe.

Not saying you should but you'll actually pay less money by keeping Flynn. Letting Flynn go means you pay Flynn AND Lin. Letting Lin go means you pay for Flynn.

I like Flynn, but from what little I've seen Lin >>> Flynn. At this point, I wish DM would package Scola, Martin, Flynn, and Thabeet for whatever we can get in draft picks; re-sign Chuck; and roll with this:

    Lowry/Dragic/Lin
    Lee/TWill
    Bud/MM/Parsons (when not with RGV)
    Pat/Chuck/Adrien
    Sam/Hill

I think we could do some damage with these youngsters.

Lin and Adrien could turn out to be diamonds in the rough.

Although I prefer Budinger over Morris because of spacing issues, your post made a lot of sense (especially defensively) and got me to thinking. Flynn is not what we need in a PG, but we have a glut of players with skills (happy to say). We should consider a Flynn (a New Orleans need) for Belinelli trade (another shooter is always a plus). That would leave a 3-deep roster that looks like this:

Dalembert, Scola, Morris, Martin and Lowry (first squad)

Hill, Patterson, Budinger, Williams (or Lee -- trade one) and Dragic ("second" first squad)

Thabeet, Adriens, Parsons, Belinelli and Lin (with two or three of these as "alternates" playing with the Vipers).

As you said, because of the brutal schedule, we could rotate the starters on the first two squads, providing both rest and ego-balming starter minutes. BTW, Flynn's contract has options into the future as a protected player, but Belinelli's contract ends after this season. Belinelli makes $3.78M as opposed to Flynn's $3.,415M.

Nice thinking! But I'd rather prefer to trade Martin and give C. Lee an opportunity to start at the SG position ... he brings more defensive and balance in the team.

We have too many players and too few minutes available, this is going to be a chemistry disaster.

Kmart is not going to be nearly as effective under McHale, they should be looking to trade him ASAP, while his value is high because a 16ppg scoring wing is not as attractive as a 23ppg one.....

We need to flip players for picks or a 3 for 1 type of deal....you can not have 13 or more rotational NBA players and keep them all happy, and their values high...won't work, never has, never will.

At this point, not many teams have cap space for a $12M player. We would have to take back three for 1, just opposite of what you want. We could do a 3-team trade, but that gets complicated. At this point, aside from development of young players, what do we really need? What star or superstar would you go after to exchange for Martin's contract and ability?
