Get over your Devry education and understand there is a difference between being interesting in this guy because of his race... and being racist. It's an interesting story because there aren't many like him around.
I came in to check this thread on what people initial impressions of Lin. Didn't realize it has been GlenRiced.
Yes, exactly, except in a "you are totally wrong" sort of way....people are people....Now religion on the other hand..... DD
I come here to the GARM for Rockets stories not two people arguing whether our 3rd string is Chinese or Taiwanese
It's a lot easier to scroll past those posts rather than get upset, complain, and accuse people of being racist for taking an interest in a player who's skilled, from Harvard, and just so happens to be Asian. Given what Yao Ming has done for the Rockets following, would it be so unreal to think an Asian player would become popular now that Yao is done?
What are u some kind of a facist? This is a public forum for Rockets fans of every nationality to talk about anything they want as long as it relates to this team. As of right now, Lin is a member of the Rockets. I really don't care if there's a 20 page thread about what Mchale ate for breakfast. Who are u to say what should and shouldn't be posted on this board?
Do you even know what a racist is? Preference to talk about people of one's own race is not racist. Morons like you who hate on a certain race of people is racist. You are probably too much a dumb ass to see the difference. You are just a freaking attention w**** who is working hard to play the role of being a racist on an internet message board, because you are too much a coward to be one in real life.
Y'all cut GlenRice some slack. He use to be down with them other races until he found another man (hispanic not asian btw) hiding in his wife, Mrs. Rice's closet. Glen has went through a lot lately so let's not bump this thread until Jeremy LIN gets tan. A really dark tan.
Jeremy Lin's brother is that you??? Defense, rebounding, and hustle play? So you are saying he's the Ryan Bowen of PGs? When you have a PG that can't shoot, can't penetrate effectively consistently, WITH mediocre playmaking skills that is a recipe for disaster in the NBA.
In fairness Lin is actually quite good at getting to the rim and drawing contact. He has the right mindset for it, anyway. His playmaking skills are not godly or anything but he plays with more control than say Flynn. But because, as you mentioned, his jumper is not consistent it makes him fairly one dimensional in that regard. If we can't find anyone else I wouldn't mind him sticking around, but I don't see how he breaks the rotation at all. I don't think Flynn is a huge favorite over Lin at the 1 in a game setting but Flynn certainly has proven to the coaching staff he should be played so I'll trust McHale. Lin doesn't have as much upside but you know what you're getting with him at least.
Do you realize Ryan Bowen lasted almost 10 seasons in the NBA? And if my memory serves me right a 6'6 undersized center/pf out of Kentucky with no real skill set but was a great defender and hustle guy developed into quite a hot commodity this summer. Bottom line is there's definitely a place for guys like this on NBA teams.
I cut him some slack, 20 pages are unreal for someone that hasn't played for us, and won't be in the rotation from the beginning
Glen Rice is enjoying his moment of time in the spotlight. He has finally make himself the focal point of a discussion thread on the internet. It's something that this loser can never taste in his real life.
