Teams are penalized for tampering by losing a draft choice. Similarly the League should be punished and or the Rockets should be compensated by giving us an extra draft choice for what happened.

A nr. 1 pick overall will be fine.

Maybe Stern will just rig the draft like last year to give the Rockets the #1 draft pick(given the Rockets dont make the playoffs)

-Does one wrong deed make up for another???... in this case, hell yeah.

I thought about this as well, but in reality the Lakers got screwed a lot more. They lost a great starter (and a great trade asset for Howard), not to mention CP3. I suppose the league could do something to compensate both the teams, maybe the 1st 2 picks of the 2nd round or something but I doubt they do that even.

They need to undo all the trades and send Pau and Nene to the Rockets.

As much as I would love to see this happen, it's highly unlikely.

To give compensation would be a tacit (and very public) admission of guilt.....which isn't going to happen. Why isn't it going to happen? Not simply because it's a loss of face but because it's an admission of complicity in something that is illegal, which would result in legal charges/lawsuits being brought by the injured parties.

A high spot draft choice (even in this upcoming highly thought of draft) is not an equal compensation of the injury sustained to the teams involved, and hefty monetary damages would be surely sought.

Would I like to see it though? Heck yeah!! Will we see it? Sadly, no.

The scary thought is that the league is desperate to sell the team and what better way than to give the Hornets some lucky lottery balls.

stern is a knick fan, so he couldn't care less about the rockets, especially when they beat the knicks in 94'

I don't think that's gonna happen but I wouldn't be surprised it the refs got a word from stern to favor us a bit, that right there would do wonders for our team.

Frankly, it doesn't matter. An extra draft choice, unless it's top 3 or 5, won't even come close to compensate for what the Rockets lost (a potential Gasol/Nene frontline).

    Stern needs to resign.

That is the only acceptable compensation.

The bolded part can basically end this thread. Too much legal and PR issues.

Now, if Stern is willing to guarantee the #3 pick behind the scenes, assuming we do our part and not make the playoffs, I'll take that as payment. I don't need the #1 overall pick. Hornets can have that so they can drive the price up another 50 mil bucks or so. But guarantee number 3 and I will gladly eat all the setback doled at us from this blocked.

I can understand Pau but why should the league send them Nene? If memory serves, had the Gasol trade went down, the Rockets still had to clear out enough cap space and then convince Nene to sign with them and that was far from guaranteed (no matter what folks around here believed). Even so, why would the Commish's voiding of a TRADE require compensation in the form of draft picks? Since when did a team deserve draft picks for being unable to consummate a trade?

Can you believe what an arrogant *&%# he sounded like when he did that interview on sports center?

I wasn't happy about the whole situation, but I wasn't PISSED until I saw that interview.

The Rockets should receive a late-mid (17-24) 1st rounder. The Lakers should get two non-consecutive early 2nd rounders. There is no precedence for what Stern did. I think its more than fair to be given picks.

Indeed. Then the league should give us an extra first round pick based on our finish this season, as glynch suggested, no lottery balls in play. That would be justice. Oh, and I could care less about the Lakers. They've had their gravy for a very, very long time, a ride the rest of the league can only look at and shake their collective heads in wonder.
