    This goes without saying. Unbelievable!

I watched most of the game. VC didn't impress me at all because low expectation, low pressure, loose environments is exactly where he excels. He still has skills, ability and some athleticism but what will he do when the pressure is on during games that mean something? How will his teammates react when he falls down and acts like he's hurt (when he's not)? As Charles Oakley said a few years ago, J-Kidd's foot in his behind kept VC motivated at New Jersey and maybe that works now in Dallas. Playing for Rick Carlisle might also help.

Odom was stroking the ball well last night but that isn't his game. He will become a key part of the Mavs this year. What a gift from the Lakers.

That first bucket by Carter was such a travel lol.

Also, is it me or does one of the announcers sound just like Clyde?

Seconded. Great stuff, batkins... thank you.

I watched that and all I kept thinking was, "The Mavs added Vince Carter and Lamar Odom for nothing and we're over here analyzing the impact of Jeremy Lin?"

Nice to be a championship team. Fans are not the only people who bandwagon in the NBA.

    Carter is a horrible acquisition.
He's as slow as Hasheem out there.

Odom on the other hand... good pickup.

Mavs have the best smallball team now, they can run Odom/Dirk at PF/C.

But they're gonna miss Chandler sorely in the playoffs. Sum is greater than its parts.

Anyway back to the topic. I'm still shocked the Lakers would trade him to a team they could face in the playoffs.

When motivated Lamar Odom is very good and I think this will make him even more motivated.

So is VC going to start at SG? Unless they start Terry or Beaubois, there really isn't any other two's on the roster. Mavericks are getting old..

    Clutch,
there's also a start Hasheem Thabeet thread in the GARM.

If you had started this place in the 90s, there would be people analyzing Larry Robinson and Dave Jamerson.

Recasner actually started some games for the Rockets, I don't know if I can say that about Thabeet

Makes you appreciate how great of a legacy players like Nash, Ray Allen, and of course Kobe will have...They pretty much entered the league at the same time as VC, and are still going strong.
