He was having a great game. He landed on his left arm and it completely buckled. It looked UGLY. Many things could have happened, a break, a muscle tear, a ligament tear, etc. He was taken off on a cart, and basically the whole team went over to congratulate him on the game. Even some of the Niners were involved. Looks like the quacker for the rest of the year.
It was a fantastic scene to see all the Eagles players and even some 49ers come out to the cart and wish him well before he was wheeled into the locker room. very classy.
That's really too bad. I just saw it, and I feel so badly for him. He'd been having the game of his life.
Word from MNF -- dislocated elbow. Wow, looks like it's not as bad as it looked. Well, hopefully he'll be alright.
Detmer has bad luck with injuries. I remeber when he was considered one of the best college quarterbacks with Colorado one year, until he tore his ACL. He even tried to play the next week without repairing the tear. I also agree it was very touching when both benches cleared and surrounded him as he was being carted off. Hopefull it isnt as bad as it looked. KY
That was a nice moment, I guess everyone felt pretty bad when they realized his season was probable over too.
I've never seen a player twitch on the field before The injury isn't as bad as it looked like it could have been.
Yes that was rather odd. Kind of reminded me of how bevis and butthead dance. Also did you catch the strory about how he buys a set of clothes at Target for less than $100 at the begning of the season and wears them on every road trip. He also only takes a toothbrush and a book with him when he travels. Weird guy, but he's got character.
Where was Warren Sapp? I thought he'd take out one OL this game. Guess the cameras were aimed elsewhere.
So, what do the Eagles do now? Bring Ron Jaworski out of retirement? Try to re-animate the corpse of Norm Van Brocklin?
Koy and his brother Ty were both great quarterbacks for the Mission Eagles down here in the RGV. His dad Sonny coached them and they did very well obviously. Maybe he'll be at the Alamodome to see Mission take on New Braunfels in the 3rd round of the playoffs. Thank God the injury wasn't any worse than what what it looked. I've seen dislocated elbows, dislocated knees, teeth hanging out of guys mouth, both wrists broken on a guy, too many broken fingers to even start to recall, and some nasty nasty gashes. Eleven years of coaching, and I know that I haven't even seen the tip of the iceberg.
