After reading the thread on the poor attendance this year, I thought it might be a good idea to create a thread containing suggestions for improving attendance. These might be good feedback for Tim. What would it take for you to attend a Rockets game? ... to go to multiple games? ...to buy a ticket package? ... to buy season's tickets? What do you think would imrove the Rockets' TV audience? ...their merchanidse sales? etc. Let's try to keep this thread positive, and not let it morph into a complaint session about high prices, losing games, etc. -- droxford
Take the games off of TV if they are not sold out. Only show the road games. Really this would probably backfire on them cause we would only see the poor performances on the road. Honestly the Rockets need to prove they can win. The fans will come to the games once this is being shown. Hate to say it but it is true. Rockets already know this.
Nothing, I've already gone to 1 Rockets game and am planning on going to more. If the tickets were cheaper I would go a lot more often. I'm going to my 2nd Texans game in December so my wallet already feels light.
HMm thats easy if I lived in Houston I would for sure be a season ticket holder cus I LOVE the freaking Rockets and alot of u people in HOuston take this team for granted and that pisses me off. Go to the games dammit Im not lucky enough to live in Houston i live 7 hours away and can only make it to like 2 games a year cus I got school and stuff like that.
I would go to the game if it was cheaper. The 10 bucks seats are a good deal but its too far from the action. I would have a better view and more action at home.
I've been going to games since Rudy and Calvin were playing. After the championships, I was priced out of my season tickets. The quality of play has decreased dramatically while the ticket prices have not. I understand we are 3rd in the league in ticket prices. Are we the 3rd best team in the NBA? Do the math. I can only afford to go to 5 or 6 games a year these days. Lower the prices and I promise the days of consecutive sellouts WILL return. And lower the beer prices too! 5.50 for a 12 ounce draft?!?
What is loyal to you???? Being a blind fan???? I'm as loyal as they come but when you work for a living and buy a ticket you want to see the team perform. More offten than not I watch from home. I have been to several games over the years never been a season ticket holder though. By the way how many games have you been to? You are just now starting to work if you even have a job. Come back with that stuff when it is Monkey see Monkey do. Sorry to throw off the direction of the thread guys
Light rail with exit near arena. This assumes I lived in Houston. I will be attempting to make the Dec 23 game against the Jazzwopers if I'm in Houston that night.
Well consider yourself lucky, kid. Not everybody has THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS to drop on a pair of season tix in the upper prom. Takes the team for granted, my ass.
droxford, It is a price issue. You can't say it isn't. Basically, people just want to see basketball. The rest is fluff. Nothing makes games more fun than fans. All that other stuff pales in comparison to more fans, and louder fans. Utah, Seattle and Golden State each had a 50% discount on renewals in the upper bowl this year. Seattle is 3rd place in the West. Utah is still fielding Stockton and Malone. If you want to prevent a huge drop in renewals, you have to get out your little calculators and Econ 101 books and figure out supply and demand. Lack of renewals is Les Alexander's fault, and no one else. Our pricing is the most expensive sports pricing in the city. The pricing is out of line with reality, and Les's miserible renewals are proof. Nothing the rest of the staff wants to do can change the record-breaking drop off on renewals. In fairness to Les, he doesn't get concession stand revenue. But with the new stadium, now he gets a whole lot more revenue, so there is not more excuses Les. Stop the renewal drop-offs this summer. do a discount. We already have something looking like 1/2 the seats available in the upper bowl in the new stadium, some fans, if not many, will be pissed when they find they can't get their seats...that they have to move behind the basket. If we don't get a discount for one year to make certain that Yao and us fans gets a full stadium with no drop offs renewals, I will wonder about Les's commitment to making the games entertaining. Les ... As we told the President...It is the economy STUPID!!!!!!!
If I had the kind of money to purchase season tickets then I would, but I'd rather pay the $150 for the NBA League Pass and be comfortable at home.
Just remind me that there are still good seats available and where to call... Actually I build the perfect marketing machine to get more fans to attend all I need is the Rockets database of phone numbers of anyone who has purchased tickets, bought miniplans or Rocket gear in the last ten years and lives in Houston... Give me that list Tim and I guarantee I will get you more people to attend... This marketing system works with anything and is guaranteed to put more fans in the Compaq Center and it works on a simple marketing principle... So just give me that list and I will get more Rocket fans to attend... I'll even do it for free the first time...
