The bad thing about this is that it messed up a few teams' current plans and future.

It arbitrarily helped some and hurt others. That is what is so wrong with this.

Teams are supposed to compete within the rules.

Only way Stern does right by us is to gift us the top pick in the draft to pick Andre Drummond or Anthony Davis.

All of this might or not be true. Personally, I'm glad the deal fell through. What damages my estimation of Morey, however, was his apparent lack of a realistic backup plan.

Yeah only thing I'm disappointed in Morey about is he doesn't have a plan B right now.

So, lets say we get a Dalembert or Kaman...is that even enough to make the playoffs?

Are we better than Denver, PHX, GS or even Utah?

I wouldn't say they are permanently hurt. Just some damaged feelings thats all. They will be alright.

Actually . . . it isn't it. That Gasol deal was a fair deal, in which our team would not have gotten significantly better without any other moves. It would've been the Memphis Grizzlies all over again. The Rockets having a bad year, could possibly help the future.

Top 12 pick with possibly another first round pick, and prospective 2nd round picks.

There are some really good wings in this draft, it wouldn't necessarily hurt us (long term) to trade Kevin Martin to get a higher pick. The team already put him on the block. I would really hate to see him go, and I'm look at some of these players, we need to get one of them or have a shot at the right one.

I think Morey clearly had a plan that included more than getting Gasol. He hasn't given me any reason so far to doubt the way he approaches decisions and what he's done with this team given the downfall of t-mac and yao.

I can't imagine a GM who could do any better in these circumstances and we should really be grateful that he's the guy in charge in this down period.

Our owner isn't exactly young either. I'm sure he doesn't want to spend the last 10 good years of his life rebuilding a team he owns. He probably wants to win now because the he gets you never know what can happen.

...I...I would actually accept that apology. It might not undo ALL the damage, but it sure would help.

Not that it'll happen, of course.

    Foolish thing to say.

The problem with making trades/ signing free agents is that you're not the only player in the market.

As Gundy said, 100 hours was put in to get us Pau (and Nene).
When that was vetoed, what's he supposed to do? Click his heels together, say "there's no player like Marc" and have Marc Gasol sign with us? [change names and repeat ditty as appropriate]

There aren't terribly many options left open to us thanks to the axing of the deal that we had worked out [and that had been agreed upon by the three teams involved].
If Stern wanted to act as "basketball owner" of the Hornets, he should've been involved in those talks far far earlier than at the very last second.

Yeah, blow the whole thing up. That's the rational choice at this point.

Heck, it was the rationale choice the past 2 or 3 years.
