by over 1000 seats a night to the lowly hawks according to espn.com LAST? How can the Rockets draw less then the Clippers, the grizzlies, the bulls, the suns, and so many other teams? The Rockets have Ming and Francis, a winning record, and an exciting team that is talked about a lot across the country. To those of you who don't go to the games, GO TO THE GAMES! There's no excuse.
Houston people are impatient and are waiting for the Rockets to prove themselves thinking they will just be the same as last year and miss the play offs again. This will all change if the team starts winning. Im not mad about the Rockets loss last nite to the Clippers,I Think this will be a big learning experience for the Rockets not to mess around and think that you can play any kinda way and still win the game at the end they need to take every team seriously.
What is there to see if you are not a diehard fan? I am a diehard fan so I love the Rockets even with last years record. See it as they see it. The players make way to much money, the ticket cost is to high and frankly the product is not that exciting to watch at times, even for a diehard. Call it what you will but the best thing for the Rockets is for those fans to keep there a$$e$ sitting at home. This sends a message to the Rockets. We demand winning, no excusses. 25% of me feels this way. The other 75% will watch forever regardless of what happens. Houston is a business city. When the Rockets PROVE themselves the city folk will be back out and filling the stadium. Edit see thread all ready made. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45879
I think once Francis and possibly Ming make the All Star team, it will all change. Even if Ming doesn't make it, we have tons of people who will get exposure. Francis to the All Star game, Mobley will do SOMETHING, Ming and Griffin in the rookie vs sophmore game, and maybe if there's a dunk contest, Francis can try to win that. Winning cures everything.
thats good nobody is going to the games. The F*ckin ticket prices are ridiculous. In Memphis, they were giving away free tickets. In houston, we have the 3rd highest ticket prices in the league. That's F*cked up. Les Alexander should put the price down on the tickets. This aint the 93-95 teams anymore. We are lottery as for now. So boycott the game and don't buy tickets.
Well said JBL!!!! People don't understand that Houston has so many things to do, that sports aren't the only escape. Plus, like you said, Houston is a business city. How many of you posting here have your grandparents living in Houston? Of course I'm only talking to those that are over 20 years old. Point is that a lot of you and your parents came to this town because of a better economic situation. So Houstonians have always been know for being frugal. And what's wrong with that? Give me wins and take my money, or keep the loss and forget about the money!!!! 7 wins don't get anyone to the playoffs. The Rockets need 35 more to even start thinking about meeting their goals.
So, when fans think of sports as a business is ok, but when an team owner thinks of a team as a business it's bad? Houston will never be a sports-city then...
Nope! Wrong way to think about it. We should DEMAND great basketball! Not winning. Because if you have great basketball, it brings the wins. If you demand only winning, then all you really want is a "ready made" team like if you were ordering it from a Sears catalog. Served on a silver platter! That's pure fair-weather, bandwagon! Sorry, but for me it's about the purity of the game, the style and and excellence. That makes for an enjoyable time at the game. The winning will come after that. P.S. How do you DEMAND great basketball? Send letters to the Rockets and speak your mind! Even if it's anit-Francis, non-homer, not polltically correct. The way I see it. If I pay, then I have the right to b****!
we still do have $10 tickets, do we? and u can go to the "yao ming fans' club" to buy the cheap group tickets, i tell u, those group tickets r really good deal.
Well, Houston really isn't a sports city. We define the term "fair-weather fans". I'm more surprised at Jersey being #26 in attendance, at least according to ESPN about a week ago.
I live in Arizona. Im a Big fan of Yao.Too bad that I couldn't go to see the Game. The only thing that i can do is vote for Yao and read whatever about Yao from internet.
Forget about the marketing ploys and fair weather fans, the Rockets have to play fundamental and entertaining basketball for 4 qtrs and every game to win the fans back. Nobody wanna spend dollars to watch isos and broken plays. If watching the Rockets ball make ppl wanna pull out their hair, it's even more frustrating to watch it at courtside.
