Please tell me which guys have guaranteed contracts because we have so many camp fillers and I don't know the rules about taking Lin who was cleared off waivers. Lowry / Dragic / Flynn Martin / Lee / Twill Budinger / Morris Scola / PP / Hill Thabeet JT, Lin, Blakey, Greg Smith, Parsons, Motiejunas ?
Lowry Dragic Flynn Martin Lee Twill Budinger Morris Scola PPat Hill Thabeet That is it...for this year's guaranteed deals at least to date. DD
K-Mart, Scola, Lowry, Morris are the only 4 on the books for 2012 right now. Thabeet, Flynn, Hill, T-Will, Patterson, and Bud are all guaranteed for 2011 with team options for 2012. C-Lee is guaranteed for 2011 and an RFA with QO for 2012. Dragic is guaranteed for 2011 and an unrestricted FA for 2012.
You can pencil in Parsons too. Les gave up $$$ to get him so you can count on it that he'll be on the roster.
I think some of what the OP is trying to ask is this: does Lin have a guaranteed contract? was Greg Smith's contract guaranteed or is it just them hoping to secure his rights for the development league? I'm curious about this too. Also, is Parsons fighting for a spot? Why is he not signed yet? it appears there's a good chance he won't be signed.
Only have 1 or 2 roster spots left. I think D-mo still counts as a spot on the roster even though he's overseas for whatever reason this year when we are rebuilding. So just one spot left???
DMo won't count until he's under a Rocket contract. We retain his rights until he wants to come play in the NBA but in the mean time he can play and we don't pay. Not sure about the other camp signings. Sometimes there's a small guarantee amount but it's usually pennies compared to overall picture.
Ok thanks for clearing that up then. 2 rosters spots available. Hopefully one for Lin and the other for a center.
Tnx so indeed 3 spots left of which Parsons is 99% to be signed to a guaranteed contract. I hope at least a center and Blakey will take the last two spots.
I doubt it, he has no contract offer yet, I am thinking that Morey may be trying to force him to Europe. DD
I bet the Rockets DID try to get Parsons to agree to go to Europe, but it didn't work. By being at training camp, Parsons has already forced the Rockets' hand. They HAVE to offer him a contract or they will lose their rights to him. This is all a timing issue, with the Rockets trying to maximize potential cap room. Parsons currently counts $0 against the cap until he's signed. By comparison, Morris was already counting against the cap, albeit for about $300k less than he probably signed for the other day. Also, it was more important to get Morris practicing ASAP than for Parsons, since Morris will be in the rotation this year and Parsons will likely not. Once Morey makes his move (whatever that may be) to acquire a player via free agency or trade, THEN he will sign Parsons.
DM is trying to sign him for 4 years, but we would lose the mini mid level if we use some of the mid level. And if we just sign him, we would lose some exceptions(Battier 7.8 mil trade exeception, ect). At least it said that in today's Chronicle.
Exactly. The Rox were counting on Parsons not to be here. He does give them more trade options, maybe, although putting the words "trades" and "Rockets" in the same sentence nowadays amounts to a septic tank overflowing. Wish we could get D-Mo over here, but maybe it's for the better that we don't.
Personally I really want Greg Smith to make the cut, he plays a position of need 'C' and has the talent to be a rotational player.
with our roster. we should be champsions... of the NCAA no seriously, our youth reminds me more of a college team than NBA. Only scola, martin, lowry are veterans.
