Without the talent vacuum from the creation of 3 sports radio stations this guy would still be unemployed.

Sumlin's arch enemy, John Lopez, also falls in this category.

I remember when Lopez started the Sumlin to Arizona rumors last year, Sumlin called into 610 and laid into him. It was quite epic.

    Bump.

To be official tomorrow or negotiations wrapped up tomorrow.

Reports that no UH staff will follow and all A&M staff is out. For what that's worth.

I wasn't in Houston during the sports radio boom. My days were during the 610 for sports and 740 for Rockets games. I do remember John Lopez as a writer for the Chron.

Buddy of mine pointed him out to me walking right in front of us as we were going in the A&M Missouri game. I turned to my seats at the first deck and he continued onto his nubbers. Couldn't have been suites either because they have separate entrances. Figured a radio guy would have a better hook up than endzone nosebleeds.

Anyhow, Lopez is now forced to root for Sumlin.

You have to admire them for swinging for the fences. I guess it doesn't make sense to spend the money to leave the conference and buy out your coach if you are not serious about winning. Spend more money to make money. Takes balls.

If Sumlin leaves and doesn't poach staff or recruits, even if he leaves before the bowl game, I won't have much of an axe to grind with him. I hope Jason Phillips is the interim coach if he does leave before the bowl game.

You can't call it poaching staff when the guys came to UH for Sumlin. Especially when a new head coach may not retain anyone. That's why JP or TL should get the job.

They went on to say several people at TAMU didn't want him.... so obviously it wasn't done.

    Tech has Gillispie & Tubby.
    TAMU has Kennedy and Summy.

What's next? Tech has the better academics?

You would prefer Tubberville over Sumlin? If it was up to the fanbases that would be done very quickly....
