If we really had Nene/Gasol frontline, JVG would probably have proclaimed the Rockets the favorites in the west. McHale's style seems to fit more into JVG's philosophy when it comes to games. JVG would've loved the twin towers.

Given how crappy their role players played, that Miami made the finals fairly validate JVG's prediction.

Say no to McFail, say no to Chris Finch, say YES to JVG. He should coach us again

Yes Jeff, I agree. Stern sucks.

I hope the Red Rowdies open our first national telecast, (if we get one) with a rousing chorus of "Stern Sux" so loud it can't be talked over. Maybe Jeff will join in. Hilarious, all 16,000...Stern Sux, Stern Sux.... sweet.

With the horrible start they had, they STILL won 61 games... Crazy...

JVG will always be a Rocket!

I have a feeling he meant 50 win team in a regular 82 game season. Surely as optimistic as JVG is, he could not have meant 50 wins in a 66 game season with Pau replacing Scola, Martin and Goran.

uhm, we've been in that path before right?

As much as I like Martin, he's a replaceable talent, Scola would be missed, but if you're acquiring a bonafide all-star, you grab the opportunity (though losing lowry would be too much) Gasol+Lowry+ whatever is left would be competitive enough to land us the 6-8 spot

Props for the statement "Defense wins games". This is an issue that is almost never discussed on this forum. If you have a great offense and suck on defense at 3 positions like the Rockets you are going to be a .500 club.

I personally don't believe that Martin and Scola are going to cut it with McHale. One or both are probably going to be gone by the trade deadline. Thank god.

Yep, I remember seeing him and T-Mac sit in Drayton Mclains seats at the Astros games. Get seems like a true Houston sports fan.

Does JVG mean 50 wins in 66 games? That would be awesome.

This is a very interesting point. The league knew, at least knew the key parts of the trade involving the stars. They could have iced the trade long before it was finalized.

That's what bothers most people and not the substantive choice itself. The League office, serving as the Hornets "owner," has every right to approve or reject any trade for its own reasons. But it either failed to tell the Hornets management what the process is or, more likely, it changed its mind as to what the process is after hearing from the Cubans and Gilberts of the world and is only pretending to be doing things for "basketball reasons."

Maybe you're looking in the wrong threads. I would even go so far as to say that the majority of Clutchfans are aware that we need to be better defensively. It's something that can be seen plainly with the eye, and something all of the stats nerds can agree upon.
