Ibby was by far the best player at Penn when I was there; he had to shoulder most of the scoring load and shot creation for the team, so he tended to conserve energy on defense, but even then, he got an inordinate amount of on-ball steals ala Rafer Alston. I never thought he would make it in the league just because of the way he went out; his last game for Penn was vs A&M in the tournament, and he had all kinds of trouble against 6-9 Joseph Jones. He couldn't create enough space to get off good looks, and wasn't fast enough to drive around him. When you're a 6-2 scoring guard who's rail thin, that's not good. Really glad to hear he's having a great career overseas, completely refashioning himself into a defensive PG. One thing that could really hold him back would be his shooting; he's just not a natural spot up guy, having developed first as a ball in hand shot creator; this is probably reflected in his 3-point percentages. One thing he always had was crazy amounts of swag on the court, from his body language to the way he controls a huddle; this is a guy who knows the moment, and hit lots of big, momentum changing shots. I have no fear that he could be someone's irrational confidence 10th man in demeanor; he's got ice water in his veins and would be an instant fan favorite if he made the team. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Being one of the only Ivy League basketball fans here who has seen both Jeremy Lin and Ibby Jaaber play, I'd probably still take Lin, since I think he's got higher upside, but I'm happy that the Rockets signed a Penn PG. Because that's worked out really well in the past. Err...nevermind.
Arrrrghhhh. My EARS. I haven't heard a soundtrack that bad since I hit my childhood CASIO keyboard with a riding mower.
who the freak are these ppl we just randomly sign. like we just signed this random white guy like 4 days ago
The idea is that you keep adding these unhearded folks as "pieces" and eventually they are worth something and eventually you ship them in bunches for picks and better complimentary players and eventually you get brought in as a third party to facilitate a superstar trade with a major market team and a backwater franchise and pick up an all star caliber player at a reasona.... Wait, that won't work. Better tank.
After watching McHale try to teach a 7'3" Thabeet how to hit a 2 foot shot, I think we need all the smart, albeit talentless, guards we can get for two weeks of practice, so coach can fockass more on the bigs.
more cap space wasted on a PG??????????????? lowry, dragic, jabber, flyn, linn??? do we realy need 5 midgets wasting roster space
