Hence, are we to assume that Houston is all out of options to create extra cap room and that they do not think they can sign Nene? Or perhaps the need to get our rookie into camp in a shortened season was more important than the $303,000 he'd count against our cap

I would think if they were to fire sell it'd be someone like Hill or TWill. Rockets would be gifting these players. Teams don't usually give much if they know the other is desperate, e.g Beasley to the T-Wolves.

^ possible that any trade that have lined up to dump salary if Nene commits puts them way over the needed amount so penny pinching is no longer needed.

For instance - handing Flynn to the Hornets, who only have 6 players and a preseason game Friday, frees up 3.4 million. With the 8.3 we already have free + amnesty of thabeet (5.1m). That gives us more than enough to avoid penny pinching.

For those who think Morris can't play the 3, there was an article in the draft thread with his coach saying that he had been playing the 3 all his life. He just moved to the 4 in the last year of his college to make room. It says that Morris was one of those guys you know he's very comfortable defending out at the perimeter. Hopefully, he is like Battier on defense and can play much better offense. I have high hope on this kid.

Patterson is a natural 4. Morris can play both, I think.

Regardless of Morris' signing (congrats to him BTW), he still has to beat out Budinger. Bud can spread the floor with his shooting or drive to the hole with authority. If McHale taps his ability and, unlike Adelman, unleashes him from his outside position on the floor, Morris will be the backup.

Martin, Lee, Lowry and Scola need space to operate effectively. Morris' style of play at SF leads to packing the paint -- where height and athleticism is the key and where Lee becomes the only long-range threat. No, I wouldn't count Bud out so quickly.

Either the Rockets are out of the Nene bidding or, more likely, they have at least one potential scenario in which they can dump a $3.5-4 mil in salary so that the extra $300K doesn't matter.

At this point I feel sorry for the Hilarious Baby.

He's been kicked to the curb, waiting on other people to get their deals signed.

He has good size. He is about the same height and weight as Rudy Gay.
