I was just about to post that ... I think Marc wants to come here. This is the better "situation" that both brothers would agree with ... And I'm sure Moreys selling that he will put more talent around him (Nene maybe) to where the Rockets would be just as good or better than Memphis. And hopefully people realize the value of having one of the best big men of all time as a head coach when needing and trying to recruit big men. Dalembert might just want the money ... Maybe Nene is waiting ... Obviously? Gasol might just be convinced that Rockets would be a better fit ... Guaranteed touches and better production (wouldn't have to share production with Randolph) I think they see Rockets as a great opportunity
All signs sort of point to him wanting change. Demand a trade might be too strong of language, but he might just turn around and say that he's not really sure if his future is out in Memphis. Think about it, the guy went to High School out there, then he gets tied down out there in a trade for his brother, is it really what he wants? I don't know. Like I said, I'm not sure if I like this trade or pickup (depending on how it ends), I just feel like I'm lost here...
beginning the season with dalembert as center is basically sentencing the team to a sub 500 season with an aging overpaid mediocre center. two of our best players are already alienated. this is not a good way to start the season.
This might go down as the worst off season for the houston rockets franchise. Even worse than the one where we signed brent price............book it!
Gotta say though - I like this kind of movement. This is really a win-win-win kind of thing. Don't match - great. SnT for agreeable player(s) - great. Match and mess up the rival's books - great. And now only 3 days to wait. What's not to like?
Of course Memphis will match. This would have to be a trade, but I have no idea what they would want from us. They already have Randolph so they have no need for any of our PFs. MAYBE Martin, but I wouldn't do that if I were them...
I don't think the question is if they'd be able to match the max offer ... But whether they would want to match a max offer with him not wanting to be there.
Bingo. You are the winner, collect $200 as you pass go, Yahztee, UNO, and all that good stuff. Why keep a max player who doesn't want to be there? We know that from personal experience...
Of course they are going to match, this is silly...no way you would Gasol even sign an offer when he has been offered much more... DD
What puzzles me is these continuous references to having cap space in 2012. Who in hades would we want in 2012 that will make us a contender. The real franchise players will be traded this year to their respective new homes, ad Deron Williams is not coming here either.
The way I see it, they probably wont. In a last minute effort they will do a S&T to get something out of it. Hopefully that will give us enough cap space to get someone else.
Force his way out ala Joe Johnson or Lamar Odom? It's not unprecedented but highly unlikely in this case.
Ok gut feeling, do you guys think Marc Gasol will be a Houston Rocket this season, I say NO although I hope he is.
If we aren't going to win right now, why not have the ability to be mobile. Do you really think either of the Gasol brothers is enough to bridge the gap from pretender to contender? Nope. However, if we have the money to work something out, and maybe some luck in the lottery we might have a greater ability to do something. Toeing the cap line does one thing, keep you mediocre... and unless the NBA starts rewarding homecourt advantage to the team in 4th place we still have room to grow.
And don't worry about stern I busted out the old loony tunes "Duck season" "rabbit season" and he got confused and blew his own head off
