mings first real test is upon us fellas. he'll go up against the kandi man, who some people rate as the second best center in the nation, i personaly rate yao as the second best .big yao should exploite he's height on kandi man, and should get plenty of easy buckets down low, having said that i fear he'll have alot of trouble matching kandi man in the speed department. all in all ming should again comeout a winner and put in a another dazzling performance....... i've really fallen for the feel good storie which is yao ming, i love this kid!!
All of you are expecting too much from Yao Ming! Just let him play and do the best he can under what ever circumstances he has to handle. Don't be pushing him into classification, he's got enough pressure, let him take his baby steps first before he learns to walk. He's just a Rookie and needs much support.
I agree maybe Yoa will shock the league with 30 points a nite his rookie year but maybe he may just slow down its to early to tell just let him take his time.
As big a fan of Kandi as I am, I have to admit that he's easily taken out of his game. Of course, the thing required to take him out of his game is strength, and Ming is too great in that department. Kandi likes to ALWAYS post up on the right block, bump around his man a little, fake to his right, spin left and shoot over his left shoulder (so to speak). All you have to do is deny him the spin to the left, and he'll become completely disoriented. Hopefully, the Rockets have been watching him do this all season, and Cato can come back and use his strength to help in this department.
Yetti, I don't think people on this board are expecting too much out of Yao. I personally hope his numbers are around 10 and 8 at the all-star break. But Yao's carving into NBA history, and touching any record of Wilt's for a rookie in this era is just insane. Yao's a kid with plenty to work on. But I'll tell you this, he should not be able to do what he's doing now. I'm having a heck of a time trying to compare him to anyone. This isn't hype or even hope, it's just unbelievable. Oh and the Kandi man's game is solid, and in this day and age it's a relief to say that about a center. I predict Yao will have an impact on the game. My eyes will be glued to the screen, but right now I'm almost scared to look. Pressure, food issues, home sickness, fatigue, dislocation anxiety, NBA thugs aside, I think we need to worry a little less about Yao. I think his support system must be solid. Props to the Rockets organization and the young man himself, he is unique.
