So how about Duke? Army never had a chance. It looks that freshman Shavlik Randolph is gonna be the next best Duke Player scoring 23 points in his opening game. I'm saying it right now, Duke will be a SERIOUS national championship contender this season despite losing their 3 best players to the NBA. Their freshman class is pretty much the "Fab 5" part 2. They have a top recruit at every position. Sean Dockery - PG J.J. Redick - SG - I predict this kid will break the NCAA record of most 3 pointers made Shavlik Randolph - SF - probably end up being Duke's best player Sheldon Williams - PF - 6'9" 255 Michael Thompson - C - 6'10" 250 (with these two guys, I think the doughnut is no more) Lee Melchionni - just for good measure they got a versatile sixth man, who also happens to be among the the top 100 recruits. Then you take into consideration they have probably one of the 2 best point guards in the nation (Duhon), and the guy who I think will be their best player this year (Ewing), and you've got yourself a championship team!
I like Florida this year, they look realy good. Duke's freshmen are awesome though, but I don't see them winning it all this year.
I like Uconn the have deep bench and two of the best sophmore's in Colledge with Okefore and Ben Gordon. Also B.C if Troy Bell can play like he did when he was co big east player of the year with Troy Murphy.
yeah, watch out for Duke in the next few years. They have legitimate All-Americans at every position!
You know how the other day we talked about Arizona's senior leadership. Their leading scorer in their 40 point win over top 20 Western Kentucky was freshman Hassan Adams. 22 points on 9-12 shooting in 17 minutes--the guy is very smooth and skilled for a young guy with great athleticism. Adams and Igudala (6'7" active athletic freak) give them a dimension they haven't had in nearly two years (Jefferson, Arenas). I will say WKU is not really top 25--they didn't have Marcus and their next best player got injured in the game. Still they have experience guards and are a NCAA turney regular. Also, Gardner played like a traditional point guard, he can do it, last year they just needed all the scoring he could provide. Stoudemire, Arizona's best shooter-- maybe the best pure shooter in the country, is gettting over an ankle sprain so Igudala started.
Arizona is ridiculously good. It's just unfair. It's also not fair that Duke gets a recruiting class like they did for this year. Redick can flat out shoot, Randolph does have game, and Williams is a beast. Watch out for UConn, Texas has surprised me a little, Oklahoma hasn't played up to their potential yet. I don't think Texas deserves it's ranking yet, but we'll see how the season goes.
