Only way to get our own superstar .....i have a feeling patterson/MORRIS will be GOOD maybe even T-WILL i dont know we have alot of good talent...people just dont see it n wanna see a superstar right away!!!
The next draft class looks to have a lot of talent. This isn't a shot in the dark. Why try and trade to become a playoff team when you can receive a star player from the draft. There is almost zero percent that any star player would ever want to step foot on Houston or for Gods sake wear a Rockets jersey. A good example would be Oklahoma City, drafted two high caliber star players in Westbrook and Durant.
We're ranking. Why else are we trading our too two scorers. Morey is looking at the draft and sees someone special. The man isn't that stupid. MC hale wasn't hired because he is going to take us to the promise land in a couple season. He was hired because he will find us a new big man. We're going to suck. We're going to trade everything in our pockets to get that draft pick we want. It's going to be a big man like when we picked up yao. Morey will get us those roll players faster than CD and jct did when we had Tracy and yao. tank mode is on
I am sorry all. If the best we can do is Get Marc Gasol and even thats turned away then this season is worth fighting for. If we cant do a last minute trading of Chase, Lee and Pat to some semi star like Granger or Iggy to form like a Detroit era of Champions then no point. GIVE time to young'ns ASAP. Every minute is crucial especially in a half season. I guarantee you wont lose this fan's attention just cause were not seriously competing. Honestly seeing Patpat getting more valuable minutes would probably excite me more then this cast.
If we can't bring in an All-Star or two, we will always be in mediocrity at about 0.5 which is the worst place to be in the NBA. In that case, trade our veterans for youngsters and future picks and run with them and let them grow.
it's our only option and this is the perfect time with a great draft coming up. If we tank we can get a top five pick and if we trade scola, kmart and Lee we might get at least a mid 1st
What about, to make you happy, we don't call it tanking... We call it playing the young talent, freeing up cap space, and rebuilding. I think this might make you happy...
The Bulls spent six seasons in the lottery post-Jordan. Dallas had ten straight lottery seasons before the Dirk/Nash/Finley core developed. The Nuggets were there eight straight years before 'Melo. Seven straight for the Cavs before LeBron. Sacramento's going on five consecutive lottery seasons. Seven years in a row for Minnesota. One playoff appearance in 17 seasons for Golden State. Two appearances for the Clippers in 18 years. If you want to tank, fine. I disagree with it, but fine. But just understand what you're likely signing up for. You can say that we're a better run organization than those clubs, but how much rope do you expect Les to give our front office if we don't strike gold quickly through the draft? Just be aware that long rebuilding periods are far more common than what the Spurs were able to pull off. Acknowledge the fact that if we choose to tank, we can't reverse course, and it could be a while until we reach the level of 'mediocrity' that you're all complaining about now. What's bothering me is I feel like a lot of the pro-tanking folks are getting excited over the idea of a shiny new toy, and ignoring the potentially harsh realities of going through with a full-blown firesale.
^ Oh I've been through the post Malone season. That one was brutal. I've got my helmet strapped on with a smile because there is an Akeem on the horizon. You might have to pick a Sampson on the way but the journey of watching kids grow up is fun. Not going to kid you though. Watching Allen drive to the basket at blazing speed but hopeless out of control and no real plan of what to do once he arrives is frustrating...especially when he does it again and again and... See good times. True fans will continue to support, talk about and even have some enjoyment in it all. Whether we make a trade we don't agree with or win 14 games the whole year in a "rebuild", we are still fans. But there is nothing more frustrating to me than to sit in land of .500 indefinately.
It depends on the draft class. Still up in the air. Got to wait ti March madness to fully judge the prospects.
Blow this team up. Blow it up and start from scratch - young players only with veterans to coach them. 3 or 4 years in the lottery.
The only way to get a star quality player is thru the draft for the Rockets. Unless ofcourse if some super star player wants to come to Houston or demands a trade to Houston (like T-Mac trade). So we will take a painful 66 game season and this upcoming draft is supposed to be a strong draft. but wait a minute, Do we have a pick this year?
I'm not an adovcate of tanking, but if we had to this would be the year for it. All the points I am about to make have been time and time again. 1. Alot of good players elected to stay another year last year, so even more talent this year. 2. This is a 66 game season so we wouldn't have to suck an extra 5 weeks compared to regular seasons. ( I don't know if it's more or less than 5 weeks feel free to correct me if it'll make you feel better.) 3. Our young players will gain even more experience, and get better. 4. We've got the cap room to make some moves this off season. 5. We've got the players to pull off a blockbuster trade. (Sorry I just can't call them assets.)
Rockets have spent 10 years riding the line between first round playoff fodder and lottery with no hope of getting to the 2nd round. All the teams have made it to past the 1st round and were contending. You didn't even include the Spurs, who sat out Robinson at the end of the season even though he was healed. You left out the Rocket's tank for Hakeem and 2 rings. The only exception was the Sterling and we know how he runs his organization and the Warriors. Sterling has always invested as little as he could for one of the lowest payrolls until they forked out the cash for Brand. Rockets have hovering the luxury tax threshold for years.
