Do you agree? Did you not watch last year when he could hit shots from the outside and he would get hot and just hit nothing but net? Do you not agree he is a better jump shooter then Francis?
Glen Rice is the best shooter on the team...he's their best 3-point shooter, plus he's the only legit outside threat that the team has. Mobley? HA!
Yes he is. Mobley has a nicer shot, the problem is he often takes them with a man right in his face, fading away. The only person in the league I can think of that takes tougher/wilder shots than Mobley is Allen Iverson. If Cuttino would just start letting the game come to him and take open shots rather than forcing it, it will become obvious just how good of a shooter he is. For him to shoot 40% from behind the arc last season on a team that had virtually no inside presence is pretty remarkable. Y'all need to give him a chance to adjust to the new team. Up until this point in his career, the Rockets haven't had near this many options on the offensive end, so Mobley has been required to carry much of the offensive load. As some people already mentioned, he has adjusted somewhat, taking less shots per game than last season. I would like to see him change even a little more.
39.5 % 3pt shooting last season. That's very respectable, so what are you laughing at? I wonder if some of you people even watched the Rockets last season. You'd have to be blind not to notice that Mobley shot well, especially when open. I seriously think some of you suffer from selective vision; you already had your mind made up about Cuttino so you ignore anything positive he does.
OK, compare that with Rice nailing 41% of his triples this year, and Cat struggling to hit even 30% of his treys. Cat needs to be on a team where he is the main option, and this is not that team. But seriously, even comparing Mobley to Rice as a shooter is a complete joke.
Mobley is Rockets best one on one player. This season he hasn't played that well but he is way better than any third option on any team in the league.(Dallas, Lakers, Sac) included.
I'd love to see a shooting contest between Yao and Rice from 15 feet. I bet it would be closer than we might think.
15 feet, Yao will win, 3 pt line Rice will win. Seriously, some three point shooters don't spot up that will inside the 3 pt line. Steve Kerr misses jumpers inside the 3 a lot as well as Bullard. Outside specialist basically have 3pt range as their sweet spot and might actually shoot worse inside it. Yao's sweet spot jump shot wise is inside the 3.
forget a 3 point shot Im talking bout overall jump shots Rice aint gone score as many point as Mobley so even tho Rice prolly gots a good lil percentage Mobley is the one that is gonna have to score more points, people do forget so easily the type of shooter Moblet is and he prolly would let the game come to him if the Rockets would run plays to get him open shots but it seems like they never do they always give it to him when he is damn near double teamed and he has to create a shot.
I guess the consideration of Mobes being injuried since trainning camp doesn't get a mention? Rice has been 100% so far this season. Tell me how you compare the 2? Not to mention that Rice is one of the best shooters of all time.
I agree Mobley is are best shooter, he needs to just quit forcing up the bad shot. I would like to see Yao pass to Mobley more when he get double teamed. Francis a better shooter than Mobley? No way, Francis realy is not that good of a shooter.
Yes, comparing him to the Rice of the early to mid 90's is a complete joke, but here's Rices 3pt% from the last four seasons. FG% 98-99 (39%) 99-00 (37%) 00-01 (39%) 01-02 (28%) Obviously, over the past four seasons he hasn't been the shooter he once was. Those are good numbers (except for last season), but Cuttino shot better last year than Rice has in his past four seasons. Sure, Rice has been shooting good so far, but then again he's only played 8 games and has only made a miniscule 12 3's. I don't think that's enough evidence to say "He's Back!" I hope he can keep it up!
Why don't we set picks to get Mobley into the game. Instead of making him work for every shot he takes by using the crossover or a jab step why don't we just let him come off some screens and shoot. It's less work and it makes him more open. They did it for Jordan back with the Bulls. At the beggining of his carreer he would create his own shot but he figured out that coming off screens worked much better.
