No, we are giving too much up for Gasol. I would give all that up for Dwight but not for Gasol. Simple as that, backup, don't get pulled in Morey. Throwing in Lee AND PPat on top of everything else? Forget about it.
They want more young talent? Fine. They can have Patterson. And Lee. And Hill. And Flynn. And Thabeet. But we get to keep Martin.
Because they want young players with star potential that can attract potential buyers for the Hornets.
!! Yup..Exactly..Morey isn't morey we use to know to....thought morey will always smart but was desprate and destroy this whole rockets franchise. to save his job....i'm pretty sure he just wanted to make trades to make himself look good n make les thinking he's trying he's not . well he dosen't convince me till he proves me something K-Mart n scola is 50 Points 2gether...
Gasol and Nene front court still won't win us a championship. We don't have that go-to guy that we used to have in McGrady and Yao to put us over in tight situations. I say throw these guy in Orlando's direction and see if we can get Otis Smith to bite. Once we have Dwight, we do every damn thing we can to get him to stay. If not, good. We can finally rebuild.
No, I'm not. Just because Stern mandates younger picks and players, which actually makes sense for a franchise they are trying to sell, doesn't mean our team should include them. We aren't getting Paul.
This is easy. NBA must find an onwer for NOH, so they need trade CP3 for young & cheap prospects and many picks. That's means they are looking for a franchise financially uncompromising. What would do a potential NOLA new owner with Odom, Scola or Martin if he doesn't like them? It'd be very difficult to trade them.
can someone tell me the latest about the trade?? in other threads people are talking as if the trade has already gotten approval
Keeping Kevin Martin would be nice, but probably won't happen. Courtney Lee isn't a long term solution at SG. Morey has to have something up his sleeve for the C and SG positions if the trade goes through. DND
I think this sums up how some people are feeling here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YE3J27ApS_8&feature=player_detailpage#t=232s
Morey needs to hear this song and think about it. The Gambler Lyrics On a warm summer's evenin' on a train bound for nowhere, I met up with the gambler; we were both too tired to sleep. So we took turns a starin' out the window at the darkness 'Til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak. He said, "Son, I've made my life out of readin' people's faces, And knowin' what their cards were by the way they held their eyes. So if you don't mind my sayin', I can see you're out of aces. For a taste of your whiskey I'll give you some advice." So I handed him my bottle and he drank down my last swallow. Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light. And the night got deathly quiet, and his face lost all expression. Said, "If you're gonna play the game, boy, ya gotta learn to play it right. [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/k/kenny+rogers/the+gambler_20077886.html ] You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, Know when to walk away and know when to run. You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table. There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done. Now Ev'ry gambler knows that the secret to survivin' Is knowin' what to throw away and knowing what to keep. 'Cause ev'ry hand's a winner and ev'ry hand's a loser, And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep." So when he'd finished speakin', he turned back towards the window, Crushed out his cigarette and faded off to sleep. And somewhere in the darkness the gambler, he broke even. But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep. You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, Know when to walk away and know when to run. You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table. There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.
But what are your expectations with our current set up? We don't have the star power/market to "rape trade" teams ala the Lakers did for Gasol in the first place. A guy like Gasol is realistically the best type of player we can get. Then we use the slight cap savings to sign a free agent (Nene? Marc Gasol?), hopefully making a Patterson for OJ Mayo esque trade to improve the team. Maybe Morris or Terrance Williams has a decent year getting major rotation minutes at the 3. And then maybe we win 50 games (out of 82 I mean) with that roster (certainly in the realm of possibility). And then suddenly we're looking like a good destination for someone like Deron Williams. Sure... it's a lot of what ifs, but you can't even get there without making that first move. And I don't know if the rest of the Dominos fall without first making the trade for Gasol.
