Exactly. Man I misee the old days when we were able to see 2 suprestars go at each other and dominate the game as much as they could. To me they miss competitive spirit. It is so easy to win game when you have 3 superstars but how aboyt building a small market team with one, putting the right role players around them.

    I miss the competition.

And I guess it is all about LeBron.....

lebron is 26 years old, the thought of him winning 10 rings is absurd. especially with 5 years left on his Miami contract. he could very well win 2-3 with his current team, but he could have won 2-3 with his home team in cleveland as the man.. he'll forever be pippen now...

YES THEY DO. Become the top .0001% of your respective field, and you get golden parachutes, and more freedom than these athletes. Till then, you're not the same as a pro-athlete, they dedicate their who lives and became the top .0001% (in demand) of their field. When you've done the same, see if you've got the same limited options.

I don't see Oklahoma City having problems retaining Durant.

San Antonio had a brief flirtation with losing Duncan(though not to one of the big markets) and that was it.

Portland had no problems resigning Brandon Roy, pre-knee explosions.

If you put a good team together, your superstars will stay put. If there isn't a good team around your superstar, he'll leave for another team that does have good players on it.

Some players like money, some players like living in a big, exciting city, some players like living close to home. All of them like winning.

If the team isn't winning - it doesn't matter if the star shooting guard has been with your team for a decade, and led them to two NBA FInals appearances - he'll ask for a trade and get dealt to the defending champs to help them repeat.

Hate to say it but this whole thread is kind of silly. Free Agency was a long hard battle that was fought out in the American Court System and in no way it will ever change.

A more relevant thread would be "Do the fans want a system that implements a hard cap?"

People need to face it though, it really is about the organizaton and not the market.

In the NFL where there is so much "parity", their have been many franchises that have been in the toilet for at least 5-10 years despite a more "fairer system".

You dont have to look past the local NFL franchise to realize that
