http://twitter.com/#!/stevekylerNBA/statuses/145557397514096640 Steve Kyler says the Rockets have offered 9 mill multiyear deal to Dalembert.
WoW! I had no idea he was so durable. Check out his career stats. He has missed TWO games over 5 seasons (4 full seasons of 82 and one of 80) http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3534/career;_ylt=Agz2sh.biXhqVJ295LU9Z6SePKB4
That's just a rumor to drive the price up for Dallas to pay. There's no way Morey pays that dude that much. Chuck money??? Possibly. But not $9 mill per for Dally. If the Rox spoke to Dally, it's simply to raise the price that Cuban has to pay for him to make it more difficult for them to acquire DWill and or Dwight.
Dalembert (or Nene, for that matter) would certainly improve the team but 7th seed in the WC doesn't really excite me. I'm still waiting to see Morey's plan unfold.
but IF he comes to Houston will the center injury jinx continue for the starting center? *knocks on wood LOUDLY*
Exactly...especially since Gasol will be doing all the low post scoring all he needs to do is help on defence.
"9 mill multiyear deal" sounds to me like the life-time value, like $4.5 each of 2 years or $3m each of 3 years. I'm also thinking it is the back-up plan in case Nene doesn't come.
To go from Chuck and Scola to Gasol and Dalembert would make a huge difference. Whoever doesn't think so is wayyyy too infatuated with our players personailities over their skill. I really hope the trade gets done.
what im gonna do is sign NeNe,release thabeet(amnesty) then offer the full mid level to dalembert to give us the best front court in the n.b.a. that way we can rebound all of terrance williams missed shots
Dalembert is coming off of a contract that paid him over 13 mill last season, and the contract was about 6 years and 65 million. Couple that with the fact that he was about as productive last season as he has ever been and is still in his prime years, and I'm betting that the 9 million is per year, not life of the contract. The guy is a lot cheaper than Nene would be and rebounds and protects the rim much better...however...he is not a two way player. At all. He is to offense what Scola is to defense: he tries really hard, but he sort of sucks at it. I'm thinking/hoping that this is a false rumor. If the Rockets made this huge move just to pair Gasol with Dalembert...Morey will probably lose his job in a few years. The thing is, this is it for Morey. The next few weeks will determine his legacy and duration as the Rockets GM. He's spending his assets, and finally using the cap space on a team of his design, and not just plugging the holes left by the team constructed by Dawson. If this plan fails and he can't bring in the free agents/talent to make this a competitive team OR if he does bring them in and they don't pan out, then it will be completely and utterly on his head...which will then roll.
