What if the NBA nixed the Gasol-for-Kwame deal?

After that deal went through, a lot of people were angry that the NBA let it happen.

But suppose David Stern stepped in and did what he did yesterday and rejected it. What would the reaction have been in the media and throughout the league? Would that have been better received?

Stern never owned the Grizzles though.

Kobe would have continued to demand a trade, and the Rockets would have had all green lights for the finals.

A comparison isn't apples to apples IMO. Pau wasn't pushing to leave MEM nor did he have any type of free agency leverage. And the Grizzlies aren't owned by the NBA as are the Hornets.

Hmmm good question. At the time it was absolute BS. But looking back, it worked out for both teams.

What about Barkley for Cassell, Chucky Brown, Robert Horry, and Mark Bryant? I'm sure other fans were yelling BS when that happened.
