In MLB when the league took over the Expos and put Minaya in charge they had to agree to allow him autonomy over the team.

What is the precedent that is being set here? If the Hornets tried to sign a free agent could the teams that were competing for that player nix the deal?

You are creating a situation where the owners could basically refuse to allow New Orleans to sign or trade any players whatsoever.

I wonder how much more patient Chuck and his agent can be..

They literally have a great offer on the table for Chuck but he has big ties to Houston....

So from the looks of things...

    Domino 1:

    3 Team blockbuster trade happens

    Domino 2:

    We somehow land Nene

    Domino 3:

    We amnesty Thabust

    Domino 4:

Negotiate a path for Chuck to come back?

    A lot of dominoes no?

I thought we would still have to amnesty thabeet in order to at least match (or get close to) what Sacramento was offering.

I for one, would have enjoyed a team of Nene and Gasol battling in the paint (and I really believe Marcus Morris will be a create his own shot scoring SF) moreso than watching Kevin Martin shoot foul shots.

The plan would have been to clear cap for Nene and Chuck.

First of all, i was only writing the points Feigen was saying.

Secondly, what team would you want to buy?
    1) 5-6 scrub players under contract with a lottery pick upcoming (or just drafted) and absolutely NO fan support
    or
    2) Team with some legit players (Martin, Scola, Okafor) who have talent and have some trade value, plus extra picks to build upon or trade as well.

Well, the speculation around here was that had this trade gone through, DM would have then cut Thabust through amnesty which would had freed up approx $16M in cap space allowing them to sign Nene which many around here considered to be a fait accompli (done deal).

Unbelievable....Morey was doing what he had to do....building up a front court and trying to move this team into the lottery but with the foundation that a star player could work with. You add a young superstar to gasol nene Lowry Hayes and you got a very good team.

Now we are stuck without a front court and players just good enough in Scola and Martin to prevent us from getting a lottery pick. Doomed!

They can appeal, but small market (non glamor) teams outnumber the big market glamor teams, and they are tired of watching dream teams drain the rest of the league of talent. To them, this is Waterloo, the final stand against their own quickly approaching farm team status, and they are not going to give up without a fight.

I think Chris Paul will be traded, but not to a dynasty, not to a team that already has a top ten player.

Who knows, maybe to us, though that would be a bad move. I continue to believe that trading for a disgruntled super star is a huge mistake.

so you think the deal would have made us bad enough in the short term to move into the lottery to pick up the young star that they'd pair with gasol?
