THE TRUTH ABOUT DJ Ryan Hollins IS as athletic and I believe longer than DeAndre. DJ is vastly overrated. His only option on offense is to dunk. A good measure of ability to develop an offense beyond 5 feet is free throws, which is not a good sign for him. His man-to-man defense is not great because he lacks fundamentals. People think he is an excellent help defender due to his blocks but if you look past the stats, you'll see that those are inflated because he goes after everything without discernment. You want to know why he looked good last year after being in anonimity for years? Because he played along side Blake Griffin. He enjoyed the media and the extra attention defenders paid on his star buddy. Unfortunately, the truth is that the league is starving for Centers, and because 7 footers who are mobile, athletic, not injury prone, and knows their role are quite rare, he is going to be grossly overpaid. Thank goodness it's not by us.
Wages of wins is pretty much crap, the fact that they have a 7/7 dude over Marc Gasol or Nene is proof of that. This is because his formula puts a ton of bias over rebounds, and DJ happens to be one of the best per-minute rebounders in the L. Of course this begs the question why isn't he getting more rebounds then, unfortunately b-ball IQ and ability to stay out of foul trouble isn't in any of his formulas. The only reason I'd take him is if he wants to come here so badly he takes a contract at the 5-8M range, which is highly unlikely.
Let this sink in: Thabust is taller than nearly everyone but he's still a disinterested, flaming failure.
