Its just a natural response to mediocrity for years. So is sarcasm to those who make waves. So I understand. :)

Pretty good post. Les is nowhere near to firing DM, and teams would be fighting to hire him if LA did so. Most of these trolls will move on soon, anyhow.

Dude, you should retire as a CF poster. I mean, if you can come up with something like this after 7 posts, I wonder if you will be able to repeat this, or will you be constantly trying and failing to come up with another such gem? Excellent post.

I hate to have to make a post like this, because there is no point. The Morey-haters will always be there until we make it to the top, and once we do, they will never admit that they were wrong.

Morey has been consistently excellent. Over the years, he has taken a team built around Yao and McGrady, and turned it into a pretty good set of young, cheap talent, with no bad contracts. A lot of owners would jump at the chance to hire somebody that can do that. I have been frustrated that he never reaches to get us that above-average center or star at any position, but he would have done even better than that with this trade.

Would the sum talent going out be more overall than Gasol represents? Yep, but it still would have been a good trade. The point is to have more of your team concentrated in a few individuals, and then surround those star players with more talent. Martin is a pretty good player, but Gasol is clearly better. It looks like we would have been able to come up with one of the better centers to go with him after this trade.

Something that I haven't seen you guys mention is, we would have gained some roster spots. We have to have that, because Morey keeps coming up with pretty good players in the draft. Getting 2-3 decent players in the draft is not helpful if we have to turn around and cut 2 of them because we don't have the spots.

Morey would have been giving away nice talent to get Gasol, but he had it to trade, because he has gotten us to that position. Martin would have been replaced by Lee, who is quite decent, and this trade would have gotten more time for Patrick Patterson.

One last thing: if you read the reports, it looks like Morey put the whole thing together, meaning this deal. We weren't invited in to make this work. The guy works hard to make things happen. If there are any chess players out there, you know how painstaking it is to slowly gain a pawn here and there, instead of reaching for the home-run move. But this is how you win.

Just wanted to respond to the op and say how happy I am that Daryl Morey (DM) is the Rockets GM.

The idea that he should be fired is simply off-base and uninformed.

should Morey be fired if the deal goes through?

Having been a die hard Rockets fan since the mid 90's when i was 10 years old, this is a trade i can't support. I think Morey is a fantastic GM who took a team with 2 older, injured stars and nothing else to a team with many soild players. In reality, we should have been in the lottery the last several years rebuilding.

However, there is no player i respect less and despise more then pau. Trading Scola, Martin, and a 1 for an older declining player, who even in his prime was not a superstar, is beyond moronic.

I know i will get flamed for this but im curious if any other fans have the same opinion on this that i do

This is the reason why I'm not on here very much. Crap like fire the GM or stupid trades that are pipe dreams, it's stupid. I want good information on the Rockets and grown up knowledgeable conversation like DD, Bima, etc.

Anyone blaming Morey for DAVID STERN vetoing a trade that was done in principle is out of their mind. Morey took a team that was built around Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady and not even two years later essentially turned that team of role players in the best front court in the West for 2011/2012 in Gasol/Nene.

The deals were a done deal and Stern in his infinite wisdom, totally destroyed the lockrooms of three teams, cause 2 GM's to almost abandon their jobs, and in the process destroyed the city of New Orleans chance at rebuilding their team past the Chris Paul years.

Now Morey is stuck with his two best players that were traded back on the team only to sit and wait for the next trade to come around. If I was him id just say screw it, and give Clutchfans what they want with Thabeet as the starting five and let Terrence Williams dribble the air out of the ball for 23 seconds of the shot clock.

Morey has done everything he can to make this team a winner, and its not his fault it hasnt happened in legitimately his first year will the ability to run the show the way he planned on. I wouldnt blame Morey for stepping down after this season, but he deserves more appreciation than this for taking risks and doing what he can to make big moves in such a short time.

I thought the Rockets being mediocre the past couple years was bc of key injuries. I remember us competing with the Lakers even when Yao went down bc Morey did a good job adding talent to this team. Fans will be fans...

this! There are just to many idiots here to place in ignore. Fire Morey? Really? Effen moron! Paul Gasol and what ever other player Morey would add with the additional cap space gained wouldn't be better than Scola and Martin? Really? Scola is better than Gasol? Anyone who thinks that knows nothing about the NBA. Like I said there are just to many clueless nit brains on here to enjoy this sight anymore.

Morey is damn overrated. CD gave us the Francis, TMAC, YAO. The best Morey could do was Brooks, Landry and Artest.

If it wasn't for Brooks, Landry and Artest we would've not made it to the second round and took lakers to game 7.

Francis was a high draft pick that we got because Francis didn't want to play for the Grizzlies. Yao was a pick that we got because we sucked so bad even with Francis. McGrady came along because we had Yao who McGrady was interested in playing with.

Morey did not have any of these opportunities.

Well his excuses keep piling up instead of his accomplishments. I would rather he had some positive moves to add for his side than excuses why there is bad luck.
