I loved the way the team passed tonight but it seems KT would rather shoot first and pass later. I'd say of the bunch that played tonight he had the most selfish tendancies. I hope it's not a trend developing. I thought that's what made the team so dangerous was the way they were able to find the open man. Having said all that at least he made many of those shots.
I have really grown to like KT and his game this season, but he is one of the guys out there who will need to adapt to the way the Rockets are playing. This team is doing everything possible to be a passing team with a strong transition game. His isolation game just isn't that effective particularly when it comes to spacing on the offensive end. But, KT is a smart guy and he can adjust. He just needs a little time to get into the flow of it.
I don't know if KT's iso is just the way he plays or if because of our reliance on it in the past that's just what RudyT has drilled into him. We have a few players who like the iso type situations (KT, Mobley, Moochie, MoT) who are all struggling a little this year. Moochie is a lost cause to me because he can't shoot when we post Yao up and he can't break anyone down without the dribble dribble nonsense. KT, Mobley, and MoT I think just need time to wash the iso out of their brains and learn where and how they can get good shot opportunities within a system that allows Francis and Yao Ming to operate. We're just learning how to incorporate everyone's strengths and still win games. Let's give it a chance!
Well anyone who sat in the chat room heard my opinion of KT several times. It seems that Kenny realizes that this is his contract year and trying to get the stats (read: POINTS) that will make him an attractive free agent. However, this is costing the team every time he goes out on to the floor. Looking at Mo, Eddie, and Glen play the game, they have no problem with taking the ball at the baseline or the angle and surveying the court. If the shot is there, they will take it. If it's not there they kick it around the perimeter or (especially Taylor it seems, check the Dallas game) bring it down low to Yao. KT takes the ball at the angle or down low on the block, dribbles for 5-8 seconds, then tries to use his first step to beat the man on the drive. It looks like our offense goes into slow motion or something. Someone needs to sit down with KT and make him realize that he's a 6'7" tweener, and that he has a spot on the Rockets AS LONG AS he recognizes our offensive scheme and adapts his talents to it. the offense is designed to get the best available shot, not for our 3/4 to force something and taking himself out of rebounding position. This isn't meant to sound like a "Dump KT" post because it isn't. He's kinda like Othella back in the day in that he hustles, plays decent defense, and can score when given the opportunity. When those opportunities come at the expense of the offensive scheme, however, it grows tiresome to watch. Just my .02.
Indeed KT is playing the game with his next contract in mind. He is trying a little to hard on doing all the things, which somehow hurts the team and he did not benefit from it that much. He needs to be relaxed a bit and will be a solid role player.
YES KT is a black hole. Just as distressing is his matador defense. He has picked up a bad habit of always swiping at the ball instead of keeping his body between his man and the hoop. I cringe everytime he is in the game.
Kenny is more than a black hole. He is the cancer on this team, and he needs to get the boot. everytime kenny comes in we struggle on offense. Kenny does not fit in on our team, he would be better on another team.
I don't have a problem with KT being aggressive. His FG% is 3rd best on the team behind Yao (the rest of the NBA is behind Yao) and Steve. He is also 3rd on the team in assists so, he is not a complete black hole. I would rate his defense about 3rd on the team also so, why bash the 3rd best player on the team when there are at least 9 other active players on the team worse than him. Go figure.
I have always really liked Kenny and still do, but last night was the first time I got the feeling he was more focused on doing something for himself. Ming was WIDE open underneath when the defense shifted and then TYRONE LUE was trying to guard him! Kenny was looking right in that direction and didn't even think about passing. It is so weird because instead of Yao trying to fit in and adapt to this team, the entire Rocket team now must adapt to Yao. His block on Stackhouse and then the other one on the fast break were especially pleasing to me.
