Vetoed trade equals very unhappy players in Scola and Martin. Yeah they're Pro's and understand the nature of business but it is still tough to go back to work to a place that just tried to get rid of you. Rich Bucher just tw itted that Paul Gasol did not want to come to Houston anyways. I think Morey in one desperate move to land a "star" might have messed with the one good thing this team had Chemistry. Rockets need to trade but get younger not a player that is 30 soft and does not want to play here. Rockets can only improve through draft and drafting high, so they should not try to trade for older players in hopes of making the playoffs and still get blasted in the first round. Nene is injury prone, Dalembert has some D but no O and Chandler is is injury prone, a little soft and only wants to get paid now that he has a ring. So Morey stop collecting so many priceless assets, your favorite word and try not to finish one game shy of the 8th spot because that only gets you pick 14 again.
Not worried. Our guys are pros and Morey always said everyone can be traded so it is not like he lied to them.
Here is some damage control, QUIT POSTING. Morey got this, everyone knows they will be traded atleast once under his watch. He might even trade back the players he traded JUST to trade them again...and you know why? BECAUSE HE CAN
Some times almost trading a player motivates them to play even better. See the failed Robert Horry and Bullard for Sean Elliot trade back in 94. They may get pissed at management, but they probably don't deal with Morey and Les on a regular basis, and McHale and their team mates had nothing to do with the decision. Besides they need to play well so that if they choose to leave when their contract ends they can get paid. Plus it isn't like they are being traded from a world championship contender.
It will suck for a while at first, then someone will crack a joke and everyone will just laugh it off.
Scola almost got traded once before for Stoudemire, but the trade fell apart at the last second. And how did Scola respond? By picking up the slack and playing out of his mind for the rest of the season, and then having a career year the following season. Lowry signed with the Cavs and got taken back to the Rockets. How did he express his "dissatisfaction?" By outplaying his contract and making the Rockets glad they kept him. Our guys are pros.
Your worried about Scola's commitment!?!? LOL Martin will be fine also, he has been traded before and turned out great.
If I remember right Robert Horry was traded and it got cancelled due to a failed physical. What did the Rockets do that year? Oh yeah, win a CHAMPIONSHIP.
Morey would have added gasol through trade then!!!! Add his brother mark gasol through free agency mark would have loved to play with his brother and would take a pay cut to come here and play.
Im sure Morey will address it, but say for the sake of the players on the roster, he cant go into detail. Im sure will say how they are upset that it leaked out to the media and the players had to deal with the emotions of it, but are happy to have Scola and Martin still on the team despite the potential deal, still see them as key players this season. Morey and the players involved are professional guys and will just get on with basketball. However, the roster will be severly cramped until a trade does go down in some shape or form. A deal of some kind is bound to happen. Until that happens, Its gonna be a bit awkward at first.
