The hornets ARE allowed to make trades, just has to be approved by its owner, which in this case is the collective owners of the league. Just like the rockets ARE allowed to make trades, but has to be approved by Les Alexander.
I would've loved the trade as long as it meant we had a shot of having a front court of Gasol and Nene/ or Marc. I would've loved to watch that team.
If this trade also netted us Nene, I wouldve preferred it... with Lowry, lee, gasol and nene.. We'd be one sf(perhaps Danny Granger) from being a serious threat.. Lowry/Flynn Lee/ Bud (Granger)/T-Will/Bud/Morris Pau/ Patterson Nene/ Hill We'd be closer to competing for sure... It's basically a decision between tanking and winning...
There are 30 teams in the NBA. 25 NBA teams voted to share more revenue with NO than save some money from this losing franchise. Stern caved, because the NBA just ended a lockout. Stern wanted this deal more than anyone, but it was his call. He made the right one.
1) We were not getting Marc. Morey would have just pissed off Memphis, a close ally, by giving him an offer sheet. 2) No thanks to overpaid, injury prone NeNe. 3) Chuck Hayes is nice, but 4 years, $20 million? It' too high. The Rockets could have offered him the same deal and Chuck would have chose Houston instead...but they didn't. We aren't missing anything.
Things are going to be awkward for the Rockets either way. If the trade is officially dead, the team has to welcome Scola, Martin and Dragic back and convince them that they are wanted. If the trade goes through, you have to deal with the fact that Pau Gasol doesn't want to be here. At least that's what Ric Bucher is reporting.
Chris Paul will not report to training camp. Will discuss trade issue with Player's Union. Per ESPN Bottom Line
They got as good of a deal as they were gonna get for CP3 and they reject it. NBA owners should have just told the GM he isn't allowed to trade CP3 and this train wreck would have been avoided.
believe me you would have been disappointed...i love how everyone thinks when morey makes a move that his next move is going to be some mind blowing transaction....it isnt. a three year old could have made a better trade than the trash morey accepted tonihgt. i like morey. but this is trash. i am sorry . trash.
Well, now you are just expressing your opinion that "they got as good of a deal as they were gonna get." Doesn't change the fact that your previous statement was stupid and misinformed. Obviously NBA owners aren't going to tell the GM that he absolutely can't trade CP3, what if there was a 1% chance that they get say lebron for him?
Can you imagine the results of this poll had this trade fell through and the Rockets weren't involved.
