Kevin Martin was a throw in. Kevin Martin should not be a throw in. But I can live with it. I can't live with using our assets to get Lakers Chris Paul. I hope the Magic don't cave and trade Howard for Bynum.
Now if this happens: get on the phone with Pau. Tell him to convince his brother in joining up with him. After Marc tells Memphis that he wants to be in Houston, offer him a max deal. I like Nene, but Marc is the real price - and he might turn into the second best center in the league. Then try to get some SG that actually is clutch. Then we might be contenders.
yes. at this point, i'd say he's moved us up to being a mediocre team that just barely gets out of the lottery. #dynamite but Morey did an awesome piece of work for the Lake Show.
GUYS, Gasol may have had a solid season last year but he WAS GOD AWFUL IN THE PLAYOFFS, don't you rememeber? They got friggin swept and blow out. Remember the rumors of how Gasol's fiance cheated on him which was supposed to excuse him of his horrible play??
Maybe Morey realized he couldn't get a superstar and decided that the only way to beat these super friends are by getting bigs
ok...given MadMax's point about helping the Laker's build an unbeatable dynasty...who cares who you get in the trade because you're going to get a beatdown by the team you helped build. ...but... If the Lakers can get Paul without you, then why not go ahead and pick on NO if you can. If you think about the direction of shedding the older players and keeping the younger ones (Scola and Martin are the oldest) then this is "almost" a Scola for Pau trade (even ages but far greater D and better O). While I would like to keep Martin, the rules and the nature of his drive and get fouled with that frame doesn't bode well for longevity. Dragic is another one that I thought would bolt next year. I like him but I get the feeling he is pissed at the Rockets for his last move. This actually might get Lee to stay but I'd say that's 50/50 if this trade goes down (I see 90/10 right now). But we better not be throwing in any picks. Lowry/Flynn Lee/TWill Budinger/Morris Pau/Patterson/Hill Thabeet Still leaves us most likely playing a PF at the C but I could see that young team (minus Pau) play. But again...no picks... (preparing myself for the inevitable) Edit: If the trade does go down, then you might as well amnesty Thabeet if you don't think he can play because he becomes one of your most expensive players.
Obviously, all Rockets fans hate Pau Gasol. But that doesn't mean that he's not good. He's a complete big man. Great offensive player who has range all the way to the 3pt line and he can rebound. Also an exceptional defender. This also frees up cash. I feel like Morey has to have another deal (trade or signing) lined up already or else he wouldn't have made the deal.
adamclantonAdam Clanton For everyone saying "if the #Rockets add Nene next..." you all sound like everyone (including me) who always said "IF Yao is healthy..." adamclantonAdam Clanton For the record, even WITH the #Rockets getting Gasol in Paul-to-Lakers deal, it's still ridiculous. And horrible for Houston, IMO...
I really wanted to keep Martin- oh well, this gives Courtney Lee more pt. Hopefully he hasn't reached his full potential yet. This would also force Williams to be in rotation right? I read elsewhere that there would be filler like Patterson and Budinger- at that price I'd say heck no. If we could land Dwight (I know rare chance) it'd be amazing
