It seems the board is strongly leaning towards not wanting Gasol.

I for one HATE the guy, but fact is he is tall, long, and most importantly GETS CALLS. The officials LOVE the guy. I used to say if Yao got the calls Gasol gets, Yao would be at the line 40-50 times a game.

It seems to me with 4 centers floating: Jordan, Gasol, Nene, and Dalembert. The
Rockets are tired of not being long enough to stay with teams. I also believe that Morey sees the Lakers much like a lot of analysts, and see the Lakers won the title in spite of Kobe's ball hogging rather than because of it.

The Lakers won their titles because they out rebounded, and weren't able to be guarded (who has 3, 7 footers to guard Odom, Gasol, and Bynum... no one). Boston was the only team with a shot versus them because they had Garnett, Perkins, and Pierce (he only gives 2 inches or so to Odom).

I know it is all speculation on who is going and who isn't, but if it costs the Rockets Martin and Scola I say go for it barring we get another Center (with 4 of them floating I don't believe this should be that hard).

I'd personally love to see Odom and Gasol get here, and then you will have an older version of the Lakers team + adding my guess is Dalembert is MOST LIKELY, but I'd really like to see the other Gasol.

Now addressing not having Kobe. I think that if you can get someone who can score next to Pau and the Rockets can keep Lowry, by keeping you big men happy and involved as #1 and #2 option on offense they will do even more rebounding.

    Thoughts?

Gasol is just that: tall and please stop calling him a center!! He is not some1 who can replace Yao or even play center.

I can guarantee Kobe will partly fall apart within 2 years
    That you can figure yourself
    CP3 is injury prone himself

At least the Super friends are relatively healthy

I thought the trade proposition was just Gasol without Odem. Could you please verify this?

I agree completely. I don't think anyone in the Rocket's organization is expecting Gasol to play center. He is just like Dirk, a tall player who isn't built to be a true center, more a Tall PF.

I don't think they can win a title easily with Mike Brown.
    Would be good matchup

Bron, Wade and Bosh, Oden? vs. Paul, Bryant, Howard

The Super Friends are stacked, but how can they stop 2 - 7 footers? Bosh can't even stop 1, and they have no money to get someone who can play.

Is Big Z and Bosh going to do anything? They will get out rebounded, which if you can't get talent as good as Lebron and Wade (and that is 100% sure you can't). The next best thing is to beat them with size.

Like Dirk? Please go watch basketball because you don't know waht you're talking about.

Pau is a post up nightmare and a great passer like Yao. He may not be the replacement but his production is identical to Yao's.

He's a 20/10/3 guy easily here. Just like Yao.

Who on this planet are those 2 seven footers?
Howard who is not in LA yet is 6'11

Bynum will be gone and Gasol too?
    You are not expecting
    Paul
    Bryant
    Metta World Peace
    Gasol
    Howard?

They have to give up something valuable

    Bingo...

If we can snag Lamar and Nene, this team would be title ready...

I sure hope our own captain Lowry can steer us the ship towards WC contention!

    I think Gasol is fantastic.

I don't think he's worth Kevin Martin AND Luis Scola unless we can get a solid wing player as well (Affalo level)

Pau would be a center here in Houston, and fit right in with PPat.

    Agreed
You count in cap room and minutes for future players as assets
Kevin and Luis is too much but usually LA gets what they want
Still I think they lost alot by letting PJax go
Mike Brown and championship? I am not so sure

He played center in Memphis. Seriously, we've had the shortest player in nba history for the last 3yrs so why is everyone crying about nothing. this is NOT nba2k. this is not fantasy basketball. we can't have a player that has the perfect age, perfect contract, pefect height, and perfect game. You sound like a bunch of chicks.

We need height... Pau gives us that... Sign Nene and you have a power dunk and height to be reckoned with... We need a front court for Mchale and that is the direction this team wants. This is a more realistic goal than saying Chris Paul would ever want to come here, as well as Dwight Howard. Let's grow up and realize getting big is the only option that we have at this point. I don't see anything else on our plates at the moment.

If there is no way Chris Paul wants to play for the Rockets than this is an EXCELLENT DEAL FOR THE HOUSTON ROCKETS:grin:You talk about a 20 and 10 a night player yeah we had that in Scola but with Pau you have an established big man who is an NBA CHAMPION!!! Plus we still have a chance at Nene. Imagine those two towers down in the paint.
