Torchy's Opening in Houston

Was very excited when I heard. I'm gonna eat the **** outta some fried avacado tacos.

 

Is that the Mexican place in Austin with the crazy cheap, giant breakfast burritos?

 

Yes, this place is amazing. We got one here in SW Austin and it is just soooo good.

I like Tacodeli significantly better than Torchy's as far as Austin taco places, but Torchy's is good.

 

thats juan in a million. Torchy's is overpriced but good.

 

Decent but not cheap. 3 bucks for a taco so it cost about 10 bucks to get full.

I went to a Torchy's a few weeks ago for the first time here in Austin. I went at breakfast and thought the tacos were weak.

 

i think clutchfans is set to self-destruct if you are ever right about anything. keep it up.

Woh Woh what's this about great Mexican food in Austin... Everything I've had sucks compared to what I had in South Houston

 

meh, Torchy's = overrated

 

I just got back from the grand opening. Everything was on the house and it was all you can eat. Ended up getting the democrat and the baja shrimp tacos. Fantastic stuff. I also tried the fried cookie dough treats. They also have a fantastic soda machine.

 

Eh. Torchy's is good, but it ain't all that. I've been in ATX for 6 months now and I've yet to find anything remotely close to HTown Tex-mex.

In general, Austin has a ridiculously high opinion of itself, but that's another rant for another day.

 

I've lived in Austin for over 20 years and I can say for a fact that food sucks in Austin for the most part, especially ethnic food.

I think its the college students eating all these things after getting drunk and high. Everything prolly taste awesome then.

We are lacking some regions like good curry etc, but we got tex mex covered.
