Looking at Chandler's injury history this is a scary proposition. We have already dealt with Yao's brittleness before and I don't want more of that for a lesser center near the same money.
It's actually not bad. Remember the max raise for non-Bird FA is 4.5%, so a 4 year contract starting at $12 mil will pay no more than $12, $12.5, $13.1 and $13.7 mil during its term. The total is roughly $51.3 million (average $12.87 mil a year). I'd take it.

I don't know a ton about the new CBA, but I would give Chandler 3 year 33 Million and see if he would settle there. Chandler would really help Scola IMO. Chandler/Hayes Scola/Patterson Is a group I like a lot.

I would replace Chandler with Dalembert there, he's cheaper and we could possibly keep cap space for next year and Howard As for who to trade, a package of Lowry, Lee, Patterson, and a 1st should get the Hornets thinking. And we could still have enough depth to make the playoffs this year with a lineup of CP3, Martin, Bud, Scola, Dalembert. In off season, we may still have enough money to offer a max to Howard, and if not, we can let Kmart walk and still have a contender with Howard, CP3, scola etc. One can dream right ?
