Donatas Motiejunas 19 points 18 rebounds 1 block 27 eff in VTB Boxscore: http://www.vtb-league.com/en/game/878.htm#mbt:15-400$t&0=1
I said that D-Mo made a huge improvement in his rebounding you would never expected him to take 18 rebounds
If DMo was a FA prospective, people on this board would be going crazy right now trying to sign him. He is much better than Fasenko, Grey, Asik, G Smith (???), and all the other scrubs.
came to say that D-Mo scored 19 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, but meh, you guys work quick here, lol. He played 35 minutes and he looked really good, maybe the only thing that was eye catching it was his free throws (4-8), and he made one three pointer out of four. I know that there are many sceptics about D-mo and that's ok, but think about it, he was a leader in Trevizo and in few months he managed to take become a leader of an Euroleague team, not the best one. He is the fastest impriving Lithuanian Youth atm.
You might be right about his value being much higher than these guys, but you would really need to match him up with another post player who can do the dirty work on defense. Not comparing him to Bosh as far as athletic ability and skill, but putting D-Mo at the 5 would be similar to when Toronto had Bosh at the 5. He'd be in and out of the lineup with injuries and whatnot. Either way, the fact that he could be considered a poor man's Bosh or even future Toni Kukoc is great. If you kids remember who Toni Kukoc was. I still think you need to look at upgrading the 5 spot if at all possible.
Well a lot of the guys you mention are centers, D-Mo is not. Well at least not yet. Although I have read that he see's himself in the long term as a Center. [rquoter]Witte watched Motiejunas play in Europe in December, visited with him again last week during Adidas' Eurocamp in Treviso, Italy, and then hosted Monday's workout. Witte said the team was "privileged" that Motiejunas included the Sixers on his abbreviated workout schedule, even if it was under the condition that the workout be solo. Witte said that Motiejunas has added about 20 pounds to his frame since he saw him play in December. "He sees himself in a few years as maybe being able to play as a five," Witte said. "Right now, he's obviously a four. He has a stretch-four mentality. He can go to the low post. . . . We see him as a power forward. He sees himself as a power forward that eventually will be able to play more as a center." Motiejunas, 20, is a lefty whose game is more perimeter oriented - he likes to create, pass, and shoot from the outside - than most NBA franchises would expect in a 7-footer, which has possibly led to teams projecting him as a lower first-round selection. "He wants to be in the NBA," Witte said. "He does not lack for self-confidence. He's an extremely confident young man. And when he's looking at you 7-foot, 240 pounds, you listen."[/rquoter] http://articles.philly.com/2011-06-21/sports/29683937_1_workout-sixers-donatas-motiejunas
We'd be pairing him with PP and MM unless we get another trade/draft. Those two are pretty good bangers down low. Also if I remember correctly Bosh didn't play C for long in Toronto. They ended up playing Bargnani at the 5 instead, look him up at 2k5 he's still a C even if he plays just like a poor man's Dirk.
He is better then MM, don't know about PP, Morey said that D-Mo could contribute immediately while Parsons and MM won't
That was a lie, dude. As in, like, how do you know what thoughts were tumbling through Morey's head when he made the comment? Are you Miss Cleo? At that moment in time, he could have been entirely sincere. How would you know? Answer... you don't. You have an opinion. And that's my opinion. Pretending certainty is not a virtue.
How do you feel about D-Mo's defense? I have seen his offensive highlights and he looks very smooth on offense for someone his size and age. The only thing that worries me is I haven't seen any highlights of his defense. Can he be a serviceable defender? Does he get caught out of position a lot? Also, is he more suited to defending NBA power forwards or should he try to pack on weight so he can defend NBA centers?
Not so easy. I agree with everyone who said he was going to be the next Dirk but there is a question mark. How can someone who was projected to be a Top 3 or Top 5 pick crash land to 20. You have to question his motor, work ethic or drive to become the best he can be.
I honestly think that he needs one NBA season with McHale as head coach under his belt. This guy will become IMO similar to Bargnani but he will be able to get a lot of rebounds on the defensive end.
D-Mo's defense is improved, but IMO he still wouldn't be able to check the physcial PF's, much less C's as of right now. I do think that he'll be serviceable down the road. Sorta Nowitzki-esque. Maybe a little better. Regarding D-Mo's rebounding, I don't think that he'll ever be known for it, however I do believe that he'll be serviceable down the road in that area also. Lastly I don't understand why people keep bringing up Dirk & Bargnani. Motiejunas plays nothing like either guy, except maybe on defense.
If he's better than Dirk, than Morey is a God for picking up a superstar trading the corpse of Brad Miller for him.
Why can't we bring him here? Does he have a buyout problem similar to Rubio? I'd rather have him in camp than Parsons.
Probably salary flexibility with little time to teach in compacted mini-season. Parsons plays a different position. Rockets will most likely be trading a wing for a center opening up time for Parsons. Parsons may also be more ready as a wing defender than Morris.
