maybe I just need to upgrade my glasses but he looks 6 11' to me, with average to below average wingspan and with average athleticism (which are not why he got drafted, he got drafted based on skills)

He's legit 7', mobile, can handle the ball, jump hook with both hand, shoot the ball and can finish with both hands. There is probably less than 5 people in the world than can say that. The only thing that can prevent from being a star in the NBA is his motor.

I think the Dirk comparison is fitting. Lets hope he has Dirk's work ethic.

Something to keep in mind is that he was only 18 yrs old during the time of the measurements, so he could have grown since.

At the same camp DeMarcus Cousins (same age as D-Mo) measured 6'10 w/shoes and a 7'3 wingspan, a year later at the pre-draft camp he measured 6'11 w/shoes and a 7'6 wingspan.

Two things I noticed in those videos: When he jumps he does not get much elivation and he does not dunk the ball. He is going to learn (just like Yao had to learn) that when you get close to the rim in the NBA you typically need to throw it down with athority or it will get swatted away. Of course Scola is the exception to that rule.

    No it does not.

It clearly lists him at 7'0".

    MOTIEJUNAS, DONATAS
    Team: Asseco Prokom
    Height: 2.13

    That's 7 feet tall.

I think so. He's got that fire, at least. Unfortunately, I also feel a bit of Me-Mac.

He is already better than what he had hoped David Andersen would be.

I remember him saying in an interview that he had a good vertical. I think that he hasn't had the benefit of a professional workout program to peak his physical attributes.

Well Morey said he's one of the ten best Euro players out there, so that's promising, right? I just don't know how he'll fit in with PP.

Even Toronto is bringing Valanciunas out of Europe why Houston should leave Motiejunas there, I don't think that he's worse than Parsons. D-Mo can Play PF-SF and a little C

Since I'm the only Lithuanian in this forum(probably) and a huge Euroleague fan - team Zalgiris and since It's not my first year watching D-Mo playing and he keeps improving and improving. He totally surpassed Valanciunas atm. Don't know if I like that, but hey, everyone is talking like that in Lithuania now :). Motiejunas> Valanciunas. And I just wanted to say that he shouldn't be at Asseco for any longer. Asseco is failing this season and are still without a win in EL. They have almost a 0 chance of getting to the top 16, so If D-Mo will stay, he will only get his exp and minutes on VTB or Polish league... That's why he needs to go to Houston, unless he would decide to join my fav team Zalgiris :p, which sucks too pretty much in EL. meh :(

Fantastic news man, glad to hear we drafted after potential this time and that potential has worked out so far. To be fair, we would have taken Valanciunas also had we picked at #5, but really when you look at it last year's draft was the lowest Motiejunas' stock had ever been or would ever be.

Be warned, in case someone comes out from underneath a bridge to challenge you on this, the BEST course of action is to ignore him/her/it.

Np man, glad to help :), sorry for my bad English tho, :)

OCC: the rumours are that Valanciunas are going to NBA this season too, because LR lost they'r main sponsor who pays the club 2-3mln. So yeah, would be cool to see both Lithuanians joining the NBA this year, especially D-Mo.

Awesome news man, and feel free to give as many updates as you can. I have a feeling that D-Mo will play much better with a good point guard, and surrounding players in the NBA. Im with you that he should come to the NBA this year, or next summer at the latest.

I would hate to seem him to develop the bad habits that the best player on a bad team tends to develop. However, I think all rookies really need a full summer and training camp to adjust and learn the system.

I think the Rockets need to do whatever they can though to keep him out of a contract in Europe that keeps him from the NBA next year and give him a full training camp and offseason. Next year, make sure he can get quality minutes on the floor and we just might have something in Montejunas.
