Speights - yes he's 6-10 but has a big NBA body like the chuckwagon. Young enough that McHale can mold him into a great paint player, offensively and defensively. Also, cheaper. Al Jefferson - I don't care what % this guy didn't get a rebound or any other cracy micro stat... McHale's work with this guy in Minnesota made him and elite post player. Plays can actually be run through him because he's offensively skilled. I do not like him paired with Scola though, would much rather see Patterson. He's on his way out of Utah. Emeka Okafor - Still 29, somewhat injury prone. He's a solid 2-way player in the paint. He has a very high bball IQ. Let's face it, New Orleans is about to be fire sale city, and Okafor's contract at 12-13 per isn't that bad. If he gets hurt or is not worth it, amnesty him next offseason. Joey Dorsey - Give this guy a ****ing chance already. He's going to be a quarter of the price any of these other guys will be, and has the physical tools to be a monster. Just needs development and an opportunity!! In that order...
You can only amnesty a player that is currently on your team. You can't trade for a player then amnesty them later. As for Joey Dorsey, no...
Okafor...He is probably the easiest center to acquire as he makes a lot on a team that needs to rebuild even more so than the Rockets. JaVale McGee...would be very difficult to pry from Washington. Omer Asik, Fesenko would be nice prospects to develop.
Al Jefferson! We would be a very solid team with this guy at center...we are still hella weak at the SF though.
Kyrylo Fesenko. Cheap, young, and has upside. Not to mention, he's actually the size of an NBA center.
Fesenko for 3yr/ 8mil contract. Low risk/ medium reward. At best, he could be a very good role player and a possible trade chip if he has a good season; worst, still better than thabeet and at that price, you're not breaking the bank. Speights and Jason Thompson are potential guys that could be targeted as well. Cheap, potential, and never got a chance to prove themselves.
Jason Thompsons potential is through the roof has always gave us problems wen we play him I could see us getting him and we always do business with the kings neway
Brook Lopez. If NJN is so willing to give him away in an Orlando swap, perhaps we could take him on and give Orlando assets that would be more conducive to tearing it down and rebuilding from scratch?
I see us signing Fesenko and losing Chuck this off-season. Fesenko, Thabeet and (the forgot man) Marcus Cousins will man the five spot this season.
I'm hoping Morey goes all in for Gasol. If he strikes out, sign Fesenko on the cheap. Fesenko is a perfect fit for this upcoming season. He would get plenty of minutes and he would make a blockbuster sign and trade for Howard easier to complete if he does well with the extended minutes. Then again, we might just keep him if he plays well enough!
With McHale as our coach, you have to think that we have some strong interest in Al Jefferson. However, if we do acquire Jefferson, we absolutely have to trade Scola(not necessarily for eachother) unless we want the worst front court defense in the league. Priority number 2 would be resigning Chuck Hayes and starting him next to Jefferson at his natural 4 spot(a must to compensate for Jefferson's lack of mobility/defense). This solves our center and shot blocking hole for the time being, and also gets us younger at the same time. Lowry/Dragic Martin/Lee Morris Hayes/Patterson Jefferson Not a championship contender, but should easily make the playoffs. Maybe a cap guy can tell me how this affects our 2012 flexibility? Either way, Jefferson is a much more realistic and probably flat out better alternative to Nene. Another way to put it, I would much rather have Jefferson/Hayes than Nene/Scola.
