What's wrong with trying to talk positively about a young player you have the rights to? What Morey is doing can only help possibly inflate D-Mo's value. Its not like he's lieing about his stats.
I dunno if it was about value or not. I took it as him saying what he is doing over there will translate to the NBA. Basically he could contribute on the team this year and is showing alot of high level talent. I see nothing wrong as well with being excited about this guy as a future talent for the Rockets. Is he top 10 right now in Europe???... probably not, but kudos for Morey actually having a draft pick this high potential to be excited about.
Like I said, don't let Morey bother you. He's a troll. The more you feed him by calling him an imbecile the more he wins. Just put Morey on ignore.
So, since Morey "the genius" thinks that a plus minus stat determines the "best players in Europe".....I guess D-Mo is now the "19th best player in Europe" ---> http://www.euroleague.net/main/statistics/individual/average?category=Valuation after being the "10th best player in Europe" a few hours ago.......... Clearly, this Morey guy is a "genius".
C'mon now. What is Morey supposed to say? D-Mo is a lower level player in Europe and we hope he gets better? He is doing his job and part of that job is to support his players and build their value up any way that he can. What is imbecile about the whole scenario is that you are letting one comment outshine his body of work of finding quality in very low percentage drafting positions. I could care less what Morey says; GM's aren't measured by interviewing skills. His collective body of work is all that matters when trying to prove competence. But then again, maybe Morey believes his statement from a talent standpoint and I'm willing to take his opinion from a talent standpoint any day of the week over yours.
Great to have you on the board, Rivers. I just wanted to embed these for those who didn't see them. Really impressed watching Motiejunas go to work this season. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/fdfhROSwhoI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vEmI5i9bRjQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Sucks that he won't be in Houston this season. Really would have preferred him coming over than Parsons.
I think Morey was referring with that comment (top-10) to Euroleague season. And until yesterday it's fair to say that he's been one of the top perfomers in the Euroleague. It is true that he wouldn't be playing so many minutes on a better team, but all in all he's playing against the same rivals, competing every game until last minute except against Barcelona, and putting up very good numbers.
Thanks for embedding the vids. I like what I see, with the only caveat that some of those layups should be rim rattling dunks.
Not that I want to seem like a douche, just mark that the game against Siena was actually broken in the 3rd quarter... being Motiejunas the only guy who sustained Prokom offense. Both loses against Galatasaray, Union Olimpija, and Unics Kazan, happened at the end of the game, even leading during the most part of some of those games.
I already said Motiejunas has more talent probably than any player on the Rockets roster. However, he is way overrating his current level as a player, to an absurd degree. This guy is like a used car salesman more than a GM.
Those highlights were pretty impressive considering his age and size. His offensive game looks very solid and he looks like he has great touch around the basket. I'm curious how he will be able to handle himself on defense in the NBA. Can't wait to see how this kid develops this year and I can't wait to see him in the NBA. BTW did this kid ever do any official pre draft measurements? I know he is listed at 7ft, but his Euroleague profile lists him at 6'11. Does anyone know his wingspan or vert?
