I don't like the lighting/disturbances in these places. Waiters running around. Drunk people making 15 pissing trips. If you need food or adult beverages you should have to sneak em' in like the good ole days.
Don't laugh but the Cinemark in San Jacinto is my new favorite. Besides the ghetto crowd for blockbuster movies they have: Lower priced concessions Slurpee drinks from 7/11 Orville Redenbacher popcorn They have rocking Faux Leather seats in all theaters with all digital projectors. The best part is the ticket prices. 2 dollars less than AMC. Unless you are scared of minorities that is a good spot
i don't notice it at alamo nearly as much as i do at smg. i always try to sit at the very end of the row farthest away from the aisle so that doesn't bother me.
BTW, SMG sucks. I've spent my last Groupon in that place. Unless you like: -Having to get there 40 minutes before the movie starts and having to stand in a cow pin for another 30 till they let you in the theater. -Watching people who "reserve" their seats for extra money stroll by you 20 before you inside. -Deal with the dull sound and mediocre projection while hearing people call waiters. -and drive around for 15 minutes trying to get in or out of City centre.
In the same vein as these two, there's Star Cinema Grill (Mo City, Clear Lake, Conroe). I like it a lot, but they don't have a wide selection of movies. Drink prices aren't too bad, not sure about food prices/quality. http://www.starcinemagrill.net EDIT: Just found out that they're showing Texans games on Sunday mornings and it's free!
River Oaks for the atmosphere and movies that don't get picked up by other theaters. Sundance could be great, but they assign seats (or you assign them yourself), which is truly awful. I don't go to the movies often enough to pay attention to price differences.
Star Cinema Grill in Mo City will blow your mind. Was pleasantly surprise about the place the minute you walk in. Very upscale and their setup for Texans games kicks ass. I don't have much beef with SMG as others do. Always had good experiences there and had access to advance screenings to plenty of movies.
I agree but paid parking there sucks, so I defer to the one on I-10, their parking garage is free. I believe the City built it for them to get traffic off the feeder road.
That's the one nearest me. Its alright, but yeah, the parking. And maybe I'm crazy but it always seems costly, even with my half decade old TAMU student ID.
