just thought y'all might get a kick out of knowing this. . . yes, the Mavs pulled out a big win. but from the time it took me to drive from the AAC to my apartment, the ONLY thing anyone talked about on the radio [2 stations!] was my boy Yao Ming. one guy said basically this [paraphrasing]: "when Yao Ming came into the game in the 1st quarter and ripped off 9 points, the body language of the Mavericks completely changed. and it wasn't like, 'oh man, we're in for a tough game.' it was more like, 'oh man, look at what we're going to have to deal with for the next 10 years. . .'" it was tough to lose, but they are a better team right now. they've been learning to win games for pretty much 3 years. the Rockets still have a ways to go. but Yao Ming stole the thunder of their 12-game win streak. I didn't see Sportscenter. did ESPN give him some love? Yao had his coming out party for real tonight. wahoo!!!
just came back from GS worriors' forum, They pruduced one page of Yao Ming threads, more than here.. Yao Ming is one the edge of allstar.
does anyone have any URLs for any Mavs bbs's? I want to see what Mavs fans are saying about Yao this morning.
Eventhough it was the Mavs 12th victory, all ESPN seemed to care about was showing Ming's highlights. Yes, there is an unprecedented amount of people across the country right now devouring substantial portions of crow. How does it taste, suckers?!?!?!
Last nights game was nationally televised and our game was the buzz on all the forums,,,Yao converted ALL doubters. A surprising thing about fans from other teams is , they are fairly knowledgable about the Rockets, and have a higher respect for Rocket players and coaches than we do here. Anyway ......last night....Yao was the #1 topic on EVERY fan forum.
leadership. it reflects on an organization, and it certainly sets the tone for how large groups will function. mark cuban b****es and b****es and b****es about the refs. small wonder that most of the posters on the dallas boards are failing to credit Yao for smacking them around last night. all they seem to want to focus on is how he was "getting all the calls". as great an owner as I think cuban is in some ways, I seriously question whether his team will ever be able to function in the tightest, most pressure-cooked situations that will present themselves in the playoffs. cuban encourages, almost demands, that the Mavs be whiners. losers b**** about calls. winners do what they have to do to overcome whatever they have to overcome. cuban is a genius when it comes to marketing and establishing buzz. but I was disappointed in what I saw at the dallas boards. anyway, Yao definitely got his props last night on the radio.
