If a marginally average quarterback like Sanchez can win a playoff game based off of a good defense, why can't Yates?*
Jake will never see the field well only from the sideline. Yates will lead us to the superbowl! Matt Ben Taub Schaub's career is over as is Matt Whinehart's. Future HOF Yates is our new starting QB. We will franchise him!
I think it's great insurance. I actually sent them the suggestion during the game... I imagine that has ZERO to do with it, but who knows?
I don't know anything, but I would have leaned toward Kellen Clemens because he has run the same system and would at least have the footwork down to run the hand offs. One thing I did see though is we do have to throw enough to to get defenses out of an 8 man front or the running game doesn't go. It did seem that the coaches called more passes for Yates than Leinart. But Delhomme? How could he even want to be on a football field again?
Check this video out about Delhomme, its a skit/comedy type thing. They are ragging on Delhomme hard about his interception problem, its pretty funny. <iframe width="640" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/51jbv7SZ7VU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Those guys were both first round picks. Each, the 2nd QB taken in their respective drafts. They also became immediate starters. Yates was a 5th round pick, the 9th QB taken, and a 3rd stringer. He looked awful on Sunday and it allowed the Jags to take away our rushing offense. Hopefully he improves after taking reps with the first team. I'm less than optimistic. Atlanta's pass defense isn't very good but they're 2nd in the league in run defense. If we can't pass the ball, Sunday is going to be VERY ugly.
I'm not saying that Yates looked great, but Kubiak did say that they took the ball out of his hands in the second half of the game. The would not let him throw it unless it because they did not want to risk him getting injured and having OD come in a qb. I think we all should reserve judgment until after the Falcons game to see how he does.

That, and we already had a lead and though it was ugly, having a drive longer than 4 plays in the 2nd half was unnecessary. I'm not writing him off completely, I'm just not expecting much.
I figure that Yates will start a couple of games then Jake will take over, they can not go into the playoffs without some experience at that position. DD
Anyone who thinks Jake is a better option than Brett would probably stick with David Carr for as long as the Texans did or hire Bush as the DC or not call Favre 2 weeks ago.
Are you sure you were watching the Texan game? How can you say he looked awful? Yates was 8/15, didn't turn the ball over, and ran the plays the coaches gave him. Our offense didn't do much, but the coaches decided what plays to run. First round pick Blaine Gabbert was the QB that looked awful on sunday, if you were watching the Texan game.
Clemens has a better shot at taking over than Delhomme. You've heard Jake's name before, he made a Super Bowl....but this guy is going to have early onset Alzheimers.
