Dont get me wrong I love those 3 guys but I just don't think its enough to win it all, if you recall the last time we made the playoffs Yao was the difference maker in the portland series and the laker series, without him we were nothing!
Morris could be an allstar. Paterson could be an allstar. Thabeet could be a rotation player. Williams could be a rotation player. We will not know though if they do not get PT. If they do develop, the Rockets become a better trade partner or a better FA destination or even just a better team.
I can't believe actual fans want us 2 tank we r already young yall act like we r a old team or sumtin how much younger do u guys want 2 get?
I just don't get this stance by the pro tankers. We have a new coaching staff that MIGHT be willing to have a much more open mind to giving these guys mentioned a chance without dumping all the good players we already have. Injuries happen during a season, opportunities present themselves all the time for players in the NBA to show what they have. Doesn't anybody think that MAYBE just MAYBE these young guys will have a better chance at improving while playing along side some actual talent rather than throwing them out there to do it all alone? Just my opinion here, but I think you raise the value of young guys like Morris and Patterson more by letting them play WINNING basketball. If they shine on a playoff team that has at least a decent showing, doesn't that say more about what they can be as a player rather than if they are stat stuffing a bottom feeder?
So, we shouldn't haven tanked and gotten the Dream? You're dumb, one bad year and many good years >>>> a bunch of mediocre years.
http://www.reclinergm.com/coin-flip-to-lottery-did-the-rockets-tank-to-get-olajuwon/ People who point to Olajuwon as an example for justification of tanking under the current rules obviously have no freaking clue what is going on.
The lotto system was far different back then when we got the Dream. It was basically a coin flip. You had a 50% shot at getting the #1 pick. The odds of finding a star through the draft are just the same as trying to trade for one. For every Blake Griffin and John Wall their are tons of Hasheem Thabeet's, Johnny Flynn's and Kwame Brown's.
I think we should build their value first at least. See what we have in Patterson and Morris. Then make a move. If someone offers up a good trade for these young guys or our veterans we cant pass up? Then we should go that way too. Rockets should stay flexible and strike when the time is right. There is no need to knee jerk react and do something right now. Unless that opportunity for a trade to get star shows up right now involving our players or one of the top draft picks trade shows up.
http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/deep-sixer/The-first-real-post-of-the-2011-12-season.html Went to the Philly board on RealGM and apparently the poster "sixerfan1976" is their team insider and here's what he had in mind. http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1134739&start=30 Would you do a Martin for Iguodala swap?
As long as they play hard and show heart out there, I won't be disappointed in however the season goes. I don't expect a lot out of this team because we're missing too many pieces to make a championship run, yet even a deep playoff run. So just play hard, try to win as many games as possible and most importantly please stay healthy.
That would b sick with k.low and c.lee at shooting guard and iggy at 3 datz a heck of a defensive front court
Play the 09 busts as much as possible. You do this for three reasons. 1) It's tanking in disguise 2) You need evaluate and see if any of T-Will, Thabeet, Flynn, or Hill are worth keeping in the future plans. 3) Showcase them for trade bait Best case scenario top pick along with Knicks pick in a deep draft. Look to go after the big 3 of Deron, CP3, or Howard.
