Meh, You can't compare Euro stats, wait for Rubio's rookie year stats and compare them to the others. Euro stats are bunk, they play a different game, slower, less assists accounted for, and pushing and shoving are allowed. Rubio's game is taylor made for the NBA....he will be fine. DD
But I'm not comparing assists. I'm comparing shooting. I don't see how if you cannot shoot in the Euroleague, you can somehow shoot in the NBA. Players who can't hit the ocean in the Euroleague don't magically become good shooters in the NBA.
LOL number 1 rule for no-d pgs to be successful in the NBA:be able to hit open 3s. Its pretty funny to me how people can say Rubio will be special when there's never been an unathletic, no-shooting pg who became a star in the NBA on the basis of his playmaking skills alone. I don't know if he'll be a bust or not, but I think he'll be average at best, or maybe one of those guys who put up a lot of pts on garbage teams.
Rubio has size going for him, and you can't teach size. But I agree that his scoring would probably be inflated, especially since the NBA favors the offensive end anyways. Although I think his assist would deflate under RA's system. But, he sure seems to have digressed a lot as well as of late.
How is Rubio small? He's a 6'3.5" barefoot (Euro League) at a solid 180lbs. Look at Tony Parker for the Spurs.. This guy will develop the way Parker did easily plus he's in the 99% tile in size @ pg in the NBA. I don't see the argument against this guy.
Actually, Rubio shot 31% in Euroleague. http://www.euroleague.net/competition/players/showplayer?pcode=LFW&seasoncode=E2010 Read the stats again. He shot 39% on 2 point shots. That is not field goal percentage. The Euroleague is not like the NBA on stats. They don't list field goal percentage as a stat. They list only 2 point shots and 3 point shots. Read it again and understand it. He actually shot 31% from the field. You have to add the 2 point and 3 point shots together, because Euroleague does not list field goal percentage in its stats. So actually, he shot 31% from the field in Euroleague.
It is 100% guaranteed he has never seen Rubio play a single Euroleague game. Because the vast majority of people that follow Euroleague consider Rubio to be a scrub. Certainly, I have never heard of any Euroleague fan that considers him a "great player". Even his biggest fans don't think he's even a good player really, just fun to watch.
Well let's see, Ty Lawson and Brandon Jennings were scrubs in Euroleague. Guys like Dragic and Calderon were at best average players in Euroleague. So you might want to rethink that statement.
