Rotowire: Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said Vickers (hamstring) has a chance to play this weekend, but it will be end of the week before the coach will make a decision as to his status for the game against Jacksonville, the Texans' official site reports. Vickers suffered a hamstring injury in Week 10 and hasn't proved he's ready to play just yet. Spin: Kubiak did admit to something interesting at his press conference following Wednesday's practice. The coach said if Vickers was 100-percent healthy, he'd start ahead of James Casey, who had opened the season as Houston's starting fullback. Vickers has been a serious blocking threat in Houston's running game, leading out Arian Foster and Ben Tate, which has elevated him over Casey.
I just think if we can eliminate mistakes other than the ones leinart will make we will win. I was being somewhat facetious about Jones, but only a little. With Dre back and all, I'd just fill better with as little Jones as possible. You are correct that he has been better of late.
A Texans victory on Sunday will mathematically eliminate Jacksonville from winning the AFC South. The Texans would be five games ahead of the Jaguars with five games to go. Since the Texans would own the head-to-head tiebreaker, there is no way Jacksonville could win the division. The earliest the Texans can win the division would be in week 14. If the Texans win the next two games in weeks 12 and 13, and the Titans lose their games, Houston would have a four game lead with four games to play. If that happens the only way the Titans could win the division would be for them to win the last of their four games and the Texans lose their remaining four games. That would give both teams a tie atop the division. The head-to-head tiebreaker would be 1-1, so throw that out. Next tiebreaker would be division games. That would be tied at 4-2 for each team, so throw that out. Next would be common games. The Titans would be 6-4 in common games while the Texans would be 5-5. Thus, the Titans would win the division. So, if the Texans win the next two games and the Titans lose the next two games, all that would need to happen to win the division in week 14 would be a Texans win or a Titans loss. In the battle for playoff seeding the Texans currently sit with the #2 seed. New England is #1 with Baltimore at #3. The reason B'more is #3 is because of conference records. Houston and New England both are 6-2 in the conference while Baltimore is 5-2. The Ravens actually control their own destiny. If Baltimore wins out they get the #1 seed, regardless of what the other teams do. As we watch the games tonight and Sunday, here is what Texans fans should root for to try and improve our playoff seeding. For the division, we want the Texans to beat the Jaguars (duh!). We also want Tampa Bay to beat Tennessee. In the race for the AFC playoffs, we want the Eagles to defeat the Patriots and the 49ers to defeat the Ravens. Other games to watch are the Browns beating the Bengals, the Bears defeating the Raiders, and Chiefs beating the Steelers. The Broncos/Chargers game and Bills/Jets game doesn't have much effect on the Texans playoff seeding right now. --- Game Release Flip Card Injury Report Uniform: White Jersey / Blue Pants Weather forecast for Jacksonville: Partly Cloudy with a high around 70. 40% chance of thunderstorms. Andre Johnson needs two catches for 700 in his career. It would only take him 120 games to reach that milestone, the second fewest ever.
awexler Adam Wexler W/ Balt win, #Texans now 3rd seed in AFC heading into Sunday. If #Texans & Pats win, then #Texans move to top spot w/ best conf. record.

I'm not sure about this. Baltimore has the tie breaker on us unless there is some weird tie breaker scenario where when these three teams are tied, Houston gets the nod. NE and Houston both have 2 conference losses. If it's just Houston and New England tied I've seen where NE gets the tie breaker nod because NE's wins are against teams with a higher win percentage than the Texans.
confused, i thought because the Ravens beat us it was the definitive tiebreaker. a texans win on sunday puts us at 8-3 just like BAL. isn't head to head more important than conference?

We would definetly have it for this week, not sure what happens if we all win out though. Check out this tool to help you. http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine
WEATHER for the game. I LOVE this Meteorologist. Dude is hilarious! "UH Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooh. I say that to you Jaggy fans, because the Texans are coming to town." LOL http://www.nfl.com/videos/auto/09000d5d82460368/Weather-update-Texans-vs-Jaguars
Here is the NFL tiebreak procedure. It goes head to head first. http://www.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakingprocedures

Will Middleton and Drew Coleman the most likely starters at corner, with Middleton probably drawing Andre duty. Dawan Landry will almost certainly be handcuffed over the top.
If its a 3 way tie between division winners it uses the wild card tie breaking scenario for 3 teams. Head to head would not be applicable if Hou Balt and NE are all tied since there is no sweep as Balt doesn't play NE. It would go to conf record first then it would go to best record using common opponents.
Roth is now listed as out. Kampman is questionable. Not counting Kampman, who was out when the jags came to h-town, Jacksonville will line up Sunday minus 5 starters from the unit that played at reliant. Ouch!
Screw the Kittens, we had more than a share of our injuries this season. I have no sympathy for them.
