would be nice insurance. Leinart would still get the start but he's a nice backup plan.

Thing is, even at 4-6, the Chiefs are within spitting distance of the Raiders. It's obviously a huge longshot, but their QB situation is horrible, and Orton is possibly an upgrade over Cassel long term.

Any other division doormats would be spending money to worsen their draft position with 0.0000% chance of making something good happen.

Chiefs would have 6 games to chase after 8-8 (Bears, Jets, Raiders, Broncos) and would have to pray the Raiders get dysentery and go 2-4 (Packers, Lions, Chiefs, Chargers).

It's only a 3% chance, but it's better than any other junk team has.

Unless one of the guys set the world on fire yesterday, or Yates has been turning heads, I don't see how they feel better about Yates than Orton as a backup.

Nab Orton, let Yates keep working with the 3rd stringers.

"Orton will be subject to waivers. If a team claims him, it will have to pay what remains of his $9-million salary."

Yeah I guess. I wont be mad if they dont sign him or claim him, but damn I hate pancakes. &#$%!@ *^# 'journalist' or 'writer' or whatever you want to call him. Wrong more times than right. According to him, Texans never have interest in anyone and would have to restructure the naming rights to Reliant if they want to sign someone. GTFO here Pancakes.

If the Bears can get him, good for them. :)
