Does anyone have any past experience with the process?

Sounds like you need an appraiser to determine fair market value, and a lawyer to hold off the sherriffs and bulldozers if that falls through. Get-out-of-mortgage-free card?

I never have understood how someone could live right behind an airport? Is it just super cheap for bigger homes or something? When I was a kid I lived about 5 miles from Ellington Field, and the fighter Jets along with the Nasa training jets used to drive me insane with their flights right over the house.

Sorry for the delay, Bush Intercontinental Airport is planning to buy off two subdivisions, Foxwood and Kenswick within five years. This was brought up in HOA meeting yesterday. I was just wondering if anyone has gone through a similar process. I'm not underwater with the mortgage, I got the best bang for my buck on the short sale. I don't have any problem relocating at all but need to be compensated. Interested in the Atascosita area later. Thanks!

I live 8 miles away from the airport, noise level is not noticed at all. Subdivision was built in 2006.

Living 5 miles away from IAH is much different than living 5 miles away from Ellington Field. Not many commuter airplanes are breaking the sound barrier.

Living in Dhahran, KSA in the 90's (and somewhat still is) was damn annoying from all the fighter jets. They were like mosquitoes in Houston.

To be fair, commercial jets are not usually making practice runs at the speed of sound in the vicinity of the airfield. As long as your house is not under the (very narrow) flight path, its not that big of a deal, outside of the traffic and the extra pollution.

hey longhorn fan, in case you didn't realize, commuter jets aren't breaking the speed of sound.

Hobby has said they planned to buy out my subdivision for a while but the last I heard of it was 2. Abd a half years ago. I'd gladly sell if they give me market value plus 20%.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this, but the commuter planes at Bush Intercontinental don't make nearly as much noise as the jets at Ellington Field.
