OK...so we always discuss everyone's favorite this and everyone's favorite that, but I've never seen a thread where we discuss down and dirty funky grooves. So, the question is...what is the funkiest groove or song? Personally, I like the George Clintons, and Bootsy Collins's of the world, but I've got to say that the absolute funkiest groove I've ever heard in my life has to be the 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 Pinball song on Sesame Street. How groovy was that ball rolling all over the pinball game and ending up in the right spot to make that blimp fly across the screen. I heard that tune today and realized that even the great funk masters couldn't even rip out a tune like that. Otherwise, a close second would be Parliament's "Flash Light". Anyone else have any great funk tunes to mention?

My choices are really predictable, but here goes anyway: Sex Machine by James Brown Le Freak by Chic Dance to the Music by Sly and the Family Stone I really haven't listened to as much funk as I should (being a bass player and all). The radio stations in Houston don't play much of the old school stuff and most new R&B music is more herky-jerky than funky.
I saw George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars this past month at the Verizon Theater... They funked the whole place up! The band played for 4 freakin' hours! The Verizon people turned up the house lights and cut the stage lights and we just kept on jammin' till the show was over! Bad @ss!! "****, *******, get off your @ss and jam!!"
