I know that Yao has been playing well, but you must keep in mind that this is a television show. The guys on the show are puppets to some extent. Look at the type of guys they've picked to work on the show. None of these guys is attached to what they say. Barkley speaks his mind, these guys just try to make you listen, no matter which topic they are covering. The best damn sports show has not covered any topic with any amount of sensitivity. Take those bastards with a grain of salt. They are just riot leaders, not activists.
John Salley and Tom Arnold used to do that whenever Guerrero left the set to do the sports update. finally management told them to stop about 8 months ago. Salley told the viewers this when one day Guerrero got up and Salley told to Arnold "look away, remember?) and they both covered their eyes. the cameras accidentally caught this and aired it... i was laughing my ass off... for about a month afterwards, they always looked to the side of the set when she walked away, sort of as a joke (b/c i guess they found out their discussion got aired). now they've gotten over it.
drapg, I'm glad someone else remembers that. I remember how hard they would stare before they were warned.
Didn't know that......I just never really liked him on NBA on NBC. He always made comments i did not like about Rocket players( just bias as a fan ). I thought he would be down on Ming for being soft the first few games like most of the media. I was wrong. I may have to start liking Bill
They better not say anything now. Yao is dominating. Salley sucked as a player. Tom Arnlord is a crummy actor who knows nothing about the game. Their show is fun sometimes, but most of the time they don't know what they are talking about.
Does anybody remember the part where Salley holds up four fingers and says to Payton, "That's four more than you have." And Payton came back with the fact that Salley only played for one.
Today, the worst damn sports show is at it again. They showed the Marbury moment and then ask G Paton about his opinion about Yao. Paton doesn't bite, saying he will be good in a few years. Then they even presure Paton to say something negative. The stupid fat guy says:" You are afraid to say negative things about him, because he has 1.4 billion people behind him right?" and laughs I mean how stupid can that go? Aren't they worried about their own show?
The Marbury moment was funny and if Francis did the same to a big man from another team most everyone on this board would be laughing about it. If you don't like the show, change the channel.
It was funny.....but the problem I have with the show is that these idiots aren't giving any chance to Yao. They have said he would be a bust before he even played. They even try to get Payton to say it. But I have no problem with them making fun of the marbury/yao thing.
Why is that a problem? Based on the type of show it is and the audience it caters to, it is exactly the type of moment the show is looking for. Why should they be worried about their own show when you (who seemingly doesn't like the show at all) continue to watch it?
I run into it when flipping the channel, happen to catch it. Yeh, I run into Anna Nacole Smith show once in a while, although that's a dman ****ty show. What's your point? you suggest the show is for the ignorant and biased, so its OK to be ignorant and biased? The show may be designed to be funny, but it doesn't designed to be biased. What kind of influence can it be on the young kids watching the show? I'm not waching it, but I can stil hate it for its existence.
If they had any brains they would laugh with, instead of at Yao. If they were talented enough to come up with a humorous, running gag involving Yao in a positive way they would probably get some good press in China. By choosing to ignore Yao's play on the court and obvious skills, these losers have probably closed the door to about 1 billion new fans. That's smart show business? John Salley- does anybody remember that Sally tried to launch a second career as a stand-up comic? He actually found something he sucked at more than basketball and chose to do it publicly. What an a$$. Tom Arnold-c'mon, the guy has been with Roseanne intimately. I can forgive him for being a bit whacked. Imagine waking up to her all naked, hot, and bothered... Irvin-A true champion and a warrior. The Alpha-Calvin Murphy. Needs to stick to pimpin ho's though. the white guy- who is that guy anyways and how do we get him off our tv's? Kruk-Keep talking about Yao and someone might chop off your remaining nut...
I am not in the least suggesting the show is for the "ignorant or biased". For example, if the exact same thing happened to Shawn Bradley when he was a rookie, I suspect the show would have made fun of it as well (substituting a Mormon "joke" for the Chinese "joke"). Obviously the show was not around at that time, but I think you get my point. I would assume the target audience for that show is teenage to 25 year old males. Your comment that the show is at it "again" suggests that you watch it, thus my suggestion to change the channel.
hahah, if 50 plus posts in an obviously titled thread can't make you realize sth without watching the watch, what can? Shawn Bradley? Say it again? You mean they have the same talent? I think people is complaining here not because the show make jokes, but because they make fun of him without due respect to the man's talent. And often times, the jokes are racial oriented. Whatever, my apology if you watch the show. I guess the show is for you.
